Betty's Trade Of All Trades

Recommended Posts

Two trades actually.  It's complicated so pay attention.

Douglas is on the clock at #11.  With Andrew Thomas the only one of the big four OT available, and CeeDee Lamb gone, Douglas is working the phones.  Elway is pleading Douglas to take #15, #77 and #178 for a chance to nab Jerry Jeudy.  It's tempting however, Douglas is concerned about what OT will be available at #15.  So instead he swindles Chuckie in Vegas to move up one spot to get Jeudy.   So Douglas cleverly moves back one spot, still gets his OT in Andrew Thomas AND collects pick #81!  That's three third rounders so far!

Now here's where it gets interesting.  The Ravens are on the clock at #28 and are desperate to find a difference maker on defense in order to slow down the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.  Simmons is gone.  Queen is gone.  So Ernie thinks outside the box and calls his old pal Joe Douglas.  After the usual 'how's the family, kids ok?' chatter a major deal is struck.  One that no one saw coming.  The Ravens get All-Pro S Jamal Adams and the Jets receive picks #28, #60, #129 and a 2021 second round pick.  Whoa!

The Jets haul will then be;

#12 - Andrew Thomas, OT

#28 - Justin Jefferson, WR

#48 - Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge

#60 - Tee Higgins, WR

#68 - Ben Bartch, OL

#79 - Matt Hennessey, C

#81 - Troy Pride, CB

That still leaves five picks in the final rounds to additional pieces to the puzzle.

Boop, boop be-doop!

It's a good scenario.  But BAL is one of the few teams that let high-priced vets walk, not one that brings them in.  They seem to me to be the very last team in the league that would trade four picks for one player.

They did (allegedly) make an offer for Adams before the trade deadline. I doubt they’d have made any formal offer at all that didn’t include at least a 1st round pick the following season or it wouldn’t have even been leaked that they made any offer.

And then the Jets lose to the Ravens every year in the playoffs because we just made them into a Super Bowl winning team. Never make a really good team in your conference into a great one.

I’m not sure the Jets get a third from the Raiders to drop a spot but a fourth is pretty reasonable and a nice little potential win-win. Like that idea.

If CeeDee is gone and they feel they need one of the big two, I think you can wrangle a third from them.  Who knows.

The Raiders aren’t trading up for a Wr in this draft under any circumstance in the first round. Small possibility they be willing to move up for a defensive player unexpectedly still on the board.( couple spots ahead of their pick- Isaiah Simmons , or Jeff Okudah ) .  Both should be long gone .
so Raiders should get one of the top three wr’s .  Than should go Cb with there other first round. ( Aj Terrell).
Ruggs, and Terrell would be a great start to the nfl draft.
