Major League Baseball’s ruling on the Boston Red Sox’s illegal sign stealing in 2018 determined the primary culprit was not the front office, manager Alex Cora or the players, but the team’s video replay system operator.

The league, in findings that will be released Wednesday afternoon, suspended the operator, J.T. Watkins, and docked the Red Sox a second-round pick in the 2020 draft. It also suspended Cora through the conclusion of the 2020 postseason, but only for his conduct as Astros bench coach in 2017, not as Red Sox manager in ’18, when the team won 108 games and the World Series.

Following a January report from The Athletic on the Red Sox’s conduct, Commissioner Rob Manfred found that Watkins, on at least some occasions during the 2018 regular season, illegally utilized game feeds in the replay room to help players during games — an undertaking less egregious than the Astros’ famed 2017 sign-stealing...

While what the sux did clearly wasn’t as bad as the asterisks neither teams penalty was heavy enough. The 2017 title 100% should’ve been vacated with Hinch Cora and Luhnow all banned for life. For 2018 more draft picks should’ve been lost along with a huge fine and this Watkins guy also banned for life.

The report is a sham, they are basically saying even though Cora was a mastermind in Houston, he had nothing to do with it in Boston.

Manfred is a joke, and baseball is ridiculous!

Yea how does that make any sense? He was the head of a cheating scheme and then the next year he becomes unaware of cheating on a new team. What? He’s the constant in both of these schemes.

Manfred is a bigger threat to baseball than this hideous virus ever could be. They ban the staffer that supposedly was the mastermind in Boston, yet the intern in Houston who presented the original idea to the owner is still employed? Did Casserly recommend this jackass to MLB?

Manfred can’t go after the players because the Mlbpa would file a grievance and probably win so he has to go after Cora

Manfred is a way more capable commissioner than Goodell or Silver.  Watch Belichick get nothing this summer

He let Cora slide on the Boston cheating.
