****OFFICIAL 2020 NFL DRAFT DAY TWO THREAD OF OPTIMISM WHERE WE DON’T DISCUSS THE STREET VALUE OF BOX SAFETIES THREAD***

How the eff is Prince Tega Wanogho still available!

That was a guy I was looking at as an option in the 2nd if we went WR in the 1st. He's still on the board?

At this point he's an absolute steal. I'd pick him up even though we already took Becton. Just because..

Oh and ESPN sucks. Just brutal the last 2 nights.

YES.

Good lord their broadcast was atrocious. Graphics set up, layout of interviews with people, sound, lag, you name it.

Yes how are people not viewing it like this?

We had a 3rd rounder.

We gave that up to move back 20 spots.

We got an extra 4th to do so.

That's a net gain of +1 not +2.

It was exactly the cost on the trade value chart. Stop complaining

You make this trade if you are looking at the draft board and like a lot of what's left.

Trade value charts work great in a vacuum. The draft doesn't happen in a vacuum, there's what's been taken, what's left now, and what you project to be there for your next pick.

Like Josh Jones, he's not as long as he looks.  Arm length and wingspan are okay, but not plus.  Big question mark about his knee and they probably can't check it out the way they'd like.  I think he also had penalty issues.  I kind of always expected him to go in the 4th.  He was on my sort of do not want list, but I guess the value isn't too bad now..

Amik Robertson was someone the Jets were showing some interest in.

Troy Pride is another talented CB but could go 5th round.

Keith Ismael is an interesting player, if Biadasz is not there when the Jets pick.

Could take a flyer on Saadiq Charles or Prince Tega Wanogho as possible swing tackles.

A lot of talent left.

I'm baffled why so many were fuming about the 2nd trade down.  We'll get as much quality at 120 as we would have at 101.

Was it because the deal was with the Pats?  If it helps us it doesn't matter who we trade with.

Because negative fans gotta be negative.  Also our fans sh*t their pants when it comes to the Pats.  Douglas didn’t give a damn and made the right move for US

yea they took a TE.  We weren't taking a TE. And who knows what JD is taking or thinking at this point. I mean he took a safety most of us never even heard of with that 3rd rounder. And safety was to many on here, not me, the biggest strength on this team.

Even if they took a QB and that QB ended up being NE's future, that fact alone wouldn't make trading down there a bad move.

Well...yeah...

Were the Pats just supposed to hand us those picks for free or something without moving up?

We gave up #101 in order to gain #125, #129 and a 6th next year.

Hell, #101 was essentially a gift anyway. We were still able to land Mims after moving back to #59 from #48.

So basically, we picked up two additional 4th rounders and a 2021 6th to move back in the 2nd round and still take Mims. That’s pretty damn sweet anyway you slice it.

Math not your thing dude?

the Jets did not pick up 2 4th round picks.

write it out on paper how many picks the Jets had in total before and after the trade.

Yes, no sh*t, we technically “lost“ pick #101 in order to pick up #125, #129 and a 2021 6th.

So yes, a net gain of two picks, not three.

That still doesn’t change the fact that pick #101 was a freebie to begin with. We picked it up by trading down 11 spots in Round 2 and STILL walked away with Mims.

So, by parlaying that #101 pick into #125, #129 and a 2021 6th rounder...the Jets moved down 11 spots in the 2nd round to still get Mims and pick up two additional 4th’s and a 2021 6th rounder in the process.

That’s a win.
