Jets723
This is how you build depth. Yes I understand not everyone is a sexy name but JD is addressing our needs but also adding as much depth as possible. He isn’t shy about pulling the trigger either
football guy
Athletes on athletes on athletes. Wild that he turned the 48th pick into Mims, 125, 129, and a 2021 6th round pick. That's navigating the board. 3
tdoublee
Even his demeanor is refreshing. He's a leader and you can tell he can relate to players. Maybe Gase can learn a thing or to from him.
GreenFish
Mims at 48 would have been a good pick. He’s basically working with free lottery tickets. Macc is watching at home in disbelief. Didn’t think this sort of stuff was possible. 1

We still have three more picks and he's hitting it out of the park so far. I especially like that he's drafting A+ athletes so far. Go Jets!!! There's a theme here, man. This guy knows where the value lies. He knows how much a player should cost either in terms of $$$ in FA or what Round they should be picked. It's been impressive. We don't know until we see it on the field. BUT....we're seeing a plan, a pattern, a strategy...... and that's more than what we've seen in a decade out of the GM spot. I just started a separate thread on Joe D's playbook focusing on his apparent first year strategy of getting a volume of good players rather than a handful of great ones. Interested in your thoughts. 5
SMC
The big question is, if this draft turns out to be a home run, do they make Douglas do the draft from home every year.
Jets723
JD Values the draft. With the amount of picks we ended up with this year and how we structured a lot of contracts this offseason Douglas clearly is looking for comp picks and we already added a couple extra picks next year. This gives you depth which is something we haven’t had in years

Larz
He seems very adept at gauging the market. He can hold his water. He has a plan. very very good start in my opinion
GreenReaper
Being able to move down from #48 to #59 and still get the wideout most of us wanted. Shows you how well he's reading this draft. To know that teams would pass on Mims and he would have a good shot at getting him is highly impressive. JD is everything I sensed he could be. I wanted him so bad to play the draft this way. Tradedowns a few times to add more chips. And don't be surprised if it continues in round 4. I also expect JD to trade up...if the opportunity presents itself...to target a specific player he wants. These moves are giving him that kind of flexibility. Draft Day Three... Can't wait! 3
SomebodytoAnybody47
Would’ve liked one of the centers/IOL. Cant say I’m pumped for a safety but we’ll see how it all comes together. Obviously love the first two picks. It’s honestly up to Gase and his staff to take these guys to the next level and not fuk it up.
predator_05
I like the trades. He got the best players on his board while accumulating picks. He also seems to favor athleticism and upside. Could have gone with the 'safer' players on the board but he chose to risk it. H Hopefully the risk is rewarded 1

There are some good ones remaining. Maybe this is what he anticipated. That safety was probably a Gregg Williams pick.

Athleticism matters more at EDGE than any other position on the field. Macc drafted Polite, who was a slug. JD drafted Zuniga, one of the best athletes in the entire draft class. Vast difference between these 2 picks, even though they play the same position, come from the same program and were taken in the same round. 4 1

tdoublee
Safety? Really? We needed a safety and we needed a corner. Davis can fill either role. Plus he return kicks. He has untapped potential. I'm sure Greg Williams co-signed this. When Maye walks next year, we'll be thankful to have Davis ready to go with a year of experience under his belt.
