Now that @BROOKLYN JET has ruined the surprise, where do I return the JetNation party hat and noisemakers to?

Save them for the welcome back @The Crusher party, he'll be coming out of this funk some day.

I still think Fant starts at LT this year with Becton on the right side. I think that's the way to bring in a very young, somewhat raw rookie. Especially a guy whose pass-blocking skills need sharpening. Fant is much more of a finesse LT guy (a la Brick) who probably doesn't translate as well to the right side, either, while Becton has the tools to be great on either side.

I really think the best case scenario for the OL is Fant working out at LT and staying there. I know I'm in the minority, but I could see Becton being an absolute mauler in the running game on the right side. We'll see how it plays out.

It's obvious that Joe D and the Jets like positional flexibility amongst the OLine.  You might be right, perhaps Becton starts on the right side (and maybe even stays there).  But I remember reading that the Seahawks were really looking to bring back Fant as their starter at RT.  That might be his best side.  Maybe its a one-year transition for Becton starting on the right and then moving to the left for 2021, but I wouldn't be surprised (depending on if/how training camp goes during this pandemic) if Becton seizes the LT spot immediately.  He was a true LT in college.

But back to this positional flexibility theme.  I've heard all of the following at various points this offseason.... McGovern is a Center but is even better at RG.  Van Roten played LG in Carolina but is also a good Center.  Alex Lewis can play both OG spots.  Fant is both a LT and RT.  Josh Andrews signed from Indy is a backup can play all 3 interior OLine spots.  And, we know the Jets tried Edoga at both RT (somewhat promising) and LT (a little scary) last year.  It's truly amazing how Joe D values flexibility on the Line.  We've all heard about swing tackles and guys who can play a couple spots..... I've just never seen it as pervasive as here and now.  Almost every guy (maybe except for Winters) can play several spots.  It's almost become a prerequisite for a job with the Jets that you play several positions.

This also got me excited and I hope it leads to productivity. Though I also recall Sheldon and Coples being palls and that... Didn't help much.

Winters (sigh)....I know you might be right though.....guy is like gum on your shoe.

Just never liked him for a lot of reasons and getting loud and showing up Darnold last year was the last straw.

I really really hope the arrival of Van Rotten is an upgrade at guard....

It's right out of the Patriots playbook and now SOP on the Jets. So great to see!

These guys already have chemistry, they trained together before the combine.

They know each other pretty well and are excited to play together.

Becton tweeted out "My Brother" 😭😭😭 When he saw that Douglas picked Clark.

This bodes well for the Jets, I wonder if Joe knew they were close.

This is Joe's method. Anyone notice the Florida and Colts connections too? He likes cohesive units. And so do I.

So what are we thinking? As of now something like...

LT - Becton, Fant, Edoga

LG - Lewis, Van Roten, Clark

C - McGovern, Harrison, Andrews

RG - Winters, Van Roten, Andrews, Clark

RT - Fant, Edoga, Clark

I think Van Roten is better than Winters

I’d say it’s a wash but Winters may be too costly.

Winters is horrible and from what I’ve seen it is far from a wash. Maybe in run game but Roten was solid in pass pro from what I’ve watched. I focused on the Jacksonville game and some others with the free coaching film on game pass.

I want to see more pancakes than an "All You Can Eat" diner down the block from a gaggle of drunk college chicks who just got done clubbing at 4 AM in the morning.

Winters was horrific last season but was genuinely injured as far as I know. Was playing through it. He had been better in previous season. I think having a team veteran on the line might help too with so many new bodies.

Like I said though he’ll probably be cut for financial reasons.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Beachum is brought back. Especially after they get a good look at Fant, who is not good. At all.

prediction Clark will be an Alex Lewis replacement at LG as early as next season.  Or at least competition for that spot (next to Becton)

But could be struggles to get game day active as a rookie.  Keep in mind Lewis isn't super durable.

This^

Yeah Winters is always injured, so it is hard to say if he is actually good, therefore I consider Roten an upgrade on either side. I like Winters and think he is tough but he had one good year.

And I also don’t think Fant is as bad as most people think. He has a ways to go but I think he will get better and can be an average tackle.

i still believe they will waive Harrison too. Andrews and GVR can snap

7 game day active the 5 starters, Edoga & Andrews

or put it another way if Harrison is to make this roster, it means Andrews busts or gets hurt

LT: Fant

LG: Lewis

Thank you.  It actually didn’t require much thought.  The way he called out Darnold in public really bothered me.  Guy plays like sh*t most of the time and now he’s deflecting blame?  Then I saw him talking all excitedly about he can’t wait to bring his new born son along to blow deers heads off (I’m not against hunting if you do it for your meals, but he seemed like that wasn’t the case).....everything about this guy bothers me.  Also, there was only 1 team in the entire NFL he could start for and to make matters worse last and get paid year after year after year....my team.

Just saying I've checked out a few interviews with Joe Douglas since the draft and he made it very clear there is no penciled-in starting spot for anybody on the o-line as of right now. His exact words were the best 5 will play.
