You think they used a future 1 on Moore because rembert hadn't signed yet?  They weren't even in camp yet, they knew at that point they wouldn't be able to come to an agreement?

My two cents - Maynard and Toon are 1-2  by a wide margin.  The rest are all so close it's a matter of who your favorites were.  On my list I would put Chrebet and Walker 3-4.

The man knows his JETS WR's.... There are those 4 then the rest.

Because I’m bored and need more sports. QB convo was interesting but depressing....If Sam Darnold throws for like 7K yards this year he’s too 5....
Without much research here’s my list — I’ll let your big brains do the research and provide a more accurate And comprehensive data-driven list and argumentation
1. Don Maynard. Despite a zero-catch super bowl, the stats don’t lie. Over 10k yds and 80+ TDs
2. Wayne Chrebet. The legend more than the stats and the stats are also there.
3. Wesley Walker. 19 yds / catch, 71 TD, despite 4. George Sauer. Seems like someone from Sheboygan Wisconsin should be on the list. Plus stats awards and postseason.
5. Al Toon. All-Pro 1x. Almost identical with coles on stats
6. Laverneous Coles. However you spell it.

7. Rob Moore. Almost identical w Keyshawn on stats with many fewer targets, except Tds.

8. Jericho Cotchery. 6th Jets all time in receptions.
9. Keyshawn. TDs per reception...

10. Robbie Anderson. Stats don’t lie. Fight me.

Did you skip 3?

nice list.  i'm not sure i'd put chrebet at number 2 though.  chrebet had great hands and ran great short routes but he didn't have a lot of speed.  i'd put keyshawn quite a bit higher.  sauer is an enigma.  from what i've read the guy was great but then he cut his career short to do other things.  i think i'd add santana moss and leave robbie off.  maybe there's some disdain for robbie since he left the team, but objectively, he didn't have a really good catch ratio and ran lackadaisical routes.  he shouldn't been much better than he was given his physical skills.

You're right, stats don't lie:

Robbie Anderson had 207 receptions in 62 games for 3.059 yards and 20 TD's in the friendliest passing era in NFL history.

Art Powell had 204 receptions in only 42 games for 3,178 yards and 27 TD's in the far more difficult for passing early 1960's.

There is no real debate here, a choice of Anderson over Powell is simply ignorance of our franchises history.

Powell produced as much as Anderson in more than a season less than it took Anderson in a far harder era for WR's.

Powell is clearly the better player.

Consider yourself "fought".

Everybody likes to bag on Stephen Hill as a great Jets draft bust and a symbol of the evils of Tannenbaum.  I submit Alex Van Dyke as a much, much worse choice.  Parcells got to pick the groceries and followed up Keyshawn by selecting Alex Van Dyke with the 31st overall.  The guy put up lines of 17/118/1, 3/53/2, and 5/40/0 in three seasons.   Hill was a mid-2nd that put up better numbers in his first game and was at least a subpar starter for a couple of years.  Dedric Ward laughs at Alex Van Dyke.

Hence why Van Dyke was # 3 on my list.

I hear ya. My thoughts exactly. Thought we were gonna get Favre  (Atlanta had Miller) ended up with Browning.

I appreciate that. Powell is an oldie but goodie for sure and it’s close. But I take the modern athlete that competes against modern NFL secondaries and that didn’t have Don Maynard on the field opposite him.

I also wouldn’t be so quick to call the early AFL a “difficult for passing in the 1960s”. Maybe you are thinking of Vince Lombardi’s 1920’s style NFL. The AFL was designed and marketed as a passing league.

As a matter of fact, the AFL designed an entirely new, smaller, thinner, more pointed football that prioritized vertical passing and aerodynamics. The AFL was not only a passing league, it was a vertical passing league.

Here’s your history lesson:

There’s also this thought experiment: replace Robbie Anderson with Powell on the 1960 Titans and likewise Powell on the 2019 Jets. I think you know the results.

Oh I do, but I think we're going to see it very differently.  Because I don't generally do fantasy, I do reality.  In reality, Powell was better, and that is just a simple fact.  Career wise Powell is also better (so far), and Anderson will need a minimum of 5x 1,000 yard seasons from today onwards to equal Powell's career production.

Are we betting on that happening?  Cause I'm not.  So yeah, in the real world, Powell was the better player.

And if we're going to play the fantasy time travel game, and ding 2019 Powell for not being a "2019 athlete", then we need to also put Anderson back in the early 1960's with 1960's medical tech, policing and social issues, and general body health.  He'd be in jail today with the attitude he has, if he played in the 1960's, and if not, the defenses of those eras, which had materially more leeway to hit WR's  and hit them hard, would have broken him in half his first start, thin little nothing of a body he has.   Coaches of that era wouldn't tolerate a guy like Anderson in the first place.  He's have been a track runner, not a football player, in the early 1960's.  He couldn't compete.

But see, that's the great thing about opinions, people have every right to be wrong, lol. ??

Don Maynard was before my time in this country (but he seems to have the vote of posters whose opinion i respect).

Al Toon was the most polished Jets receiver i ever saw play.  The only issues with him were durability (he wasn't very) and the fact that we picked him #10 overall, six spots before probably the greatest WR of all time (Jerry Rice).  and so it goes.

Wayne Chrebet was probably the bravest (and he is paying dearly for that bravery now).  Also notable for being an extremely rare Rich Kotite bright spot.

Wesley Walker and Robbie Anderson were the only receivers who could take the top off of defenses with any regularity and wes Walker was the better of those two I think

Laveraneus Coles is the best of the rest that i saw and 2nd to Chrebet in being Mr. Clutch.

Santonio Holmes was a Steeler and really does not belong on this list for that reason.  Otherwise and in terms of his career he might be close to the top.

Santana Moss is a name that hasn't been mentioned much but he is another one we let go too soon.

Not a pretty list.  Stephen Hill is easily better than five guys that were picked higher than him.  I think JoJo Townsell is a different kind of issue.  He was a fairly solid player.  He went to the USFL first and I think he had a couple of nice seasons catching passes from JoJo Townsell with the LA Express.  He came to the Jets and was a pretty good punt returner.  I thought he was a nice receiving option, but they only really used him for one year.  He had 45 for 777 with 5 TDs in 89, went back to nothing in 90 and out of the league by 91.  Maybe Kotite and Walton didn't know how to use him.  Seems like he'd have been a monster slot now.
