Top 12 Comeback POY candidates per Brandt: Mosley # 11

C.J. Mosley

C.J. Mosley
New York Jets · ILB

After becoming one of the highest-paid inside linebackers in the NFL last offseason, Mosley started off the 2019 season on fire, making five tackles and returning an interception for a touchdown in the first half alone of the Jets' Week 1 game against Buffalo. But then disaster struck -- a groin injury knocked Mosley out later in the game, and he only appeared in one more contest last season before having corrective surgery. His return in 2020 should make the Jets' strong defense even stingier.

Somewhat curious he didn't crack the top 12.  Unless of course Brandt thinks Bell is toast, hence an improved offense wouldn't be enough for him to have a bounceback season.

He's not considered a comeback player because he played the entire season.....and he's done. His signing will be another footnote at just how bad Mac was as a GM. His free agent signings were even worse than his drafts.

CBPOY, aka (unofficially) the Chad Pennington award, can also go to guys who suck one year and are awesome the next.

But yes, usually its injury guys, like all 12 of the ones on Brandt's list.

How many RB's fit into that window at his age? Bells' best season was three years ago behind an All pro offensive line and Ben at QB. Yet some still think he'll rebound and be that player again and the truth is it never happens.

Preaching to the choir on this one.  I don't see Bell bouncing back in a big way.

Agreed, interesting we drafted a young back, and signed Frank Gore. If Bell stinks the place up with is slow jogging through the line sh*t, the other two will take his job.

Hammy?  Wasn't it a groin injury?

yes.  it was a groin injury and he had surgery on in december.  he's still not 100%.  time will tell.  he certainly showed some serious ability in that one game.  he'd keep adams in the defensive backfield.
