Popular Post BallinPB
I think it can be important for people to have a civilized discussion on politics but unfortunately it never ends up that way so I understand the strict no politics rule. It's tough because what's going on in the world transcends all aspects of our lives to a certain extent along with the fact that there's no sports to talk about, I can understand why a lot of threads end up with people fighting each other. We live in a world right now where people are the least tolerant of other ideas that I can remember in my lifetime. 5

I didn't believe it was as recently as 5 years ago. Now its blatantly obvious to me. Some people have the luxury of going into a bubble their whole lives and avoid the truths about this world and how ugly it can be. Others can't ever avoid it. I was in that bubble once. Never again. Grow and change or you are part of the problem. Period. 4 1

BallinPB
I also think if Max will allow a heavily moderated thread on the subject it would be up to us to refrain from personal attacks. There are some people I don't trust to do that. However, I do remember Max saying that he can ban certain people from threads only now so that may be a good thing if anyone starts going off the rails. As someone who has participated in peaceful protests, the good news is that there is incredibly strong group of young americans ready to stand for what's right. As we're starting to see many of these young americans are NFL players who have a much larger platform to share and educate with the masses. The NFL might have the biggest auidence in the country and a very loud voice to the masses. This time I'm really hoping they do the right thing and embrace the plight of their predominantly black players and be a proponent of change rather than a resistance. 6

It's easy to assume an attack on ideas is an attack on the person. It's also easy for folks to resort to anger when their ideas are attacked. As long as its only ideas that are being attacked, any discussion can happen without many issues. Even one as emotional as what's going on in our country. EM31
In other other news i am racking my brain to try and remember what web sites i have visited recently. I suddenly received several promotional emails for "manscaping" shavers. One of them even featuring the picture of a swimmer under water in a swimming pool in goggles with a cap and touting the benefits of a waterproof manscaping product. Seems like kind of an odd place to go about that stuff but whatever floats your boat....

It doesn't require adding a politics forum. It requires being willing to moderate topics (I know that's a tough ask) and not be so quick to lock them (also a tough ask).

Technically that might have "started it" but the other fella coming at him was the escalation which precipitated violence. I appreciated that posts were deleted but constantly locking threads is giving these people exactly what they want. 5

We can't ignore what's going on in this country and the world, at least not right now. We need to treat this like a national tragedy, because it is. And when national tragedies happen, we don't ignore them, even on a forum like this.

The point of this thread was not to get into a political debate, and now here we are. I hear you. Kap and every other player who took a knee was trying to bring attention to their cause, and a noble cause at that. However, the divisive nature of kneeling took the focus away from the cause and put the focus squarely on the kneeling. Right, wrong, or indifferent, you have to send a message that will be heard by the people you are trying to reach. If people are arguing about your chosen method of protest, you have to try something else. If the goal is to get people to understand your point of view, the worst thing you could do is offend them.
