Kapernick has a pretty large contract with Nike and whatever sum the NFL paid out. Why would he play football now? He's been out of the league for a while and last time he played he got beat out by Blaine Gabbert.

Dunno… Perhaps it would afford him more visibility to support his activism ??? He is still relatively young.  With some work, he can make a contribution.  If not as a starter, maybe a back-up or clip-board guy ???  Or even step in as a utility QB to run a little wild cat, or fake the direct snap ???  Rex was pretty high on keeping that in the play book.  He figured it forced the opposing DC's to spend extra time preparing for it.

He doesnt want to be backup. Denver, Baltimore, Seattle all offered him deals that he turned down. Unless he's changed his mind. He also had that bizarre workout last year that seemed more spectacle than serious.
