The Big "Jamal Officially asks to be traded" Thread

Even if a team trades for him he's controllable for 3 years at around $25 million. Giving up a 1st for 3 years of control at half his actual value is a good deal for a team interested in him.  The extension does not have to be part of the deal bc Jamal has no leverage except to sit out and get fined and miss paychecks.  The holdout threat has been lessened now bc fines are now mandatory and teams can't just erase them like they used to.  Its $40,000 per day during training camp and about $1.5 million in fines if he holds out all training camp.  No player is stupid enough to do that especially a player only scheduled to make $825,000 this year in actual cash.

is it possible for players to have to pay owners money if they sit out all of training camp?

Trade him to the Bucs I guarantee they win the SB.

Can you imagine the sh*t sandwich watching Brady, Bowles and Adams on the podium getting the Lombardi?

Adams does not move the needle, hardly at all.

Brady is going to fall on his ass.

Tampa and Buffalo the league darlings are doomed.

For some reason I get the feeling this is all leading nowhere.  Jamal will be unhappy but I think he'll be on the team this year and possibly for a couple of years.

This is exactly what is going to happen... It seems we have a GM that is patient and calculated and will address everything in time... He has no reason to respond to the childish outrage of a DIVA SS..... Adams will be stuck here for the next 2-3 years because nobody is going to fork over the price tag that JD is going to set on his star player.

And Jamal will still play his heart out because he wants the contract at the next team he goes to.

It won't be up to Brady.  The Bucs currently have less than $5M in cap space, and all of the following guys are scheduled for free agency (projected $63M cap space in 2021):

  • Godwin
  • LB Shaq Barrett
  • LB Lavonte David
  • DT Ndamukong Suh
  • S Justin Evans
  • TE Rob Gronkowski
  • QB Blaine Gabbert
  • DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches
  • G/RT Joe Haeg

All of those are either starters or key backups/rotational pieces.

If you think brady wont have a strong say then idk what to tell you lol

This is what Jamal's last few defenders look like.

I personally don’t see a resolution now that it’s reached this point, but it’s entirely possible that Jamal Adams is a Jet next year. I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Fans spewing vitriol is a far cry from what JD is actually gonna do.

My biggest issue with Adams is that he never even attempted to grasp the history of this franchise and the effect it has had on Jets fans.

Instead, he antagonized Jets fans as being insincere and "fairweather" when things went awry... essentially flipping us off as losers.   After all, he is a self-proclaimed "winner.'"

Adams doesn't fit.

Where is Victor Green these days?

An extension for Godwin impacts the next 5 years.

Brady has, at most, 2 years left.

If the supposed GOAT can't get by with Mike Evans and company, he isn't worth sh*t.

Get a list of teams the beotch doesn't want to go to and trade him to one of those...

Better to trade him to one of the worst teams in the league. The draft picks will be worth much more. Why trade him to a contender so we get the 30th pick or something? We control his ass for the next 3 years; make sure we get a top 10 pick for him.

Probably not, but again, it all comes down to financials.  If they don't think they can afford to sign him to an extension, they'll need to try to get something for him.

What, precisely, about this situation would lead you to believe Jamal will play good soldier and play out the rest of his contract + franchise year with the Jets?

It's way more likely it turns into a Jamal Ramsey situation where he bitches, insults the management in public, misses time due to 'injury' and 'illness'.

sh*tty situation when the only good player on your team in the last 10 years want out but I guess being right on the interwebz is fun too.

Lol that statement is not even remotely true. They are at least a dozen players better than Adams. Hell at safety Rhodes was a better player than Adams

Could you imagine?  You show up to the vet with this cute little puppy you just bought and the vet is like ummm, dude, this is a cat.  Try to put yourself in that situation.  That's what I'm experiencing so a little sensitivity would be really appreciated.

Useless factoid of the day. It obviously does not happen too often with cats but it does happen sometimes with bears. Young bears look a lot like dogs, then one day you notice your "dog" is especially large and walks on two legs a lot

Don't trade him until you get exactly what you want.

Call his bluff.

He has no leverage.

No, we've gone down this road. No more holding onto players who don't want to be here or don't live up to potential hoping things will change. Trade them and use the resources to get better. It's like a failed marriage in that you don't hang around thinking that suddenly the parties involved will just make it work due to magic and stuff.

Jamal Adams is turning into a prick . He knows damn well hes not getting 20+ Million per, he's only throwing that out there to screw the Jets who have probably told him to wait until next year which means Jamal will have to once again try to play his ass off to keep his asking price high. I would bet anything this guy does not put near the effort hes putting in now if he gets his mega deal and that's why hes pushing so hard for this deal. Right now his key is to hurt the Jets and get traded for much less than he would have otherwise.

I hope he holds out and Douglas tells him GFY and rot on your couch for 2 years.
