He’s the one that wants out and that’s the reason we can’t have good things. The “good thing” (that isn’t really even that good where it matters if you ask me) wants to walk out the door in the middle of his rookie contract. This wasn’t the usual Woody Johnson/Jets org fumble of the ball where they show their incompetence and mess up something going well for them. This is all on Adams.

Obviously Becton's intended to be the long-term answer for the team, but that doesn't necessarily translate to a need to rush him out there from day one, especially given the limited offseason/camp/preseason this year.

Weirdest thing about Jamal is that he posts on IG multiple times every day and you never see him with a teammate. He’s usually by himself buying sneakers or working out alone. For a guy who fancies himself a popular leader of men, it looks like he leads a solitary life off the field.

Popular Post JoeFan
I was tired of Jamal’s act before his self-absorbed trade request. Last year, he was a much better player than he was in his first two years. However, even last year, he frequently took himself out of position by trying to make hero plays. I lost respect from him during one of his many tearful post-game interviews. One of the reporters (thankfully not Mehta, who is a troll) asked Adams what happened on a long touchdown run against the Jets. Jamal responded that *someone* missed an assignment. When the play was shown on the highlights, it was obvious that it was Jamal who had missed his assignment. So much for his leadership. I do think that Jamal is a very good player, but he is not half as good as he thinks he is. In my opinion, he is an ok pass defender, certainly not a great one. Yes, he is a good pass rusher, but I would prefer that we finally develop an edge rusher so that our strong safety can actually, you know, play safety. Maybe he can then intercept more than one pass in three seasons. In my opinion, we would only revert to acting like the Same Old Jets if we traded him for a poor package. Unless we get overwhelmed with an offer, I say that we should keep Adams this year. The fact that Jamal presented his wish list of teams to which he would like to be traded is arrogant to the extreme. If we get great offers from bad teams, I would take one of the offers because we would get earlier draft picks. Why accept an offer that might result in getting the 28th pick, rather than, let’s say the 3rd pick in the 1st round? Actually, I’d love to snatch the edge rusher from the Jags, whose name I can’t spell. Edge rusher is a position where it actually makes sense to extend someone. Not box safety! Another point that many people overlook is that the salary cap is a pie that gets divided among all of the players. It’s all well and good to say that Jamal has out-played his contract. But, if we raise his pay early, every dollar that goes to Adams is a dollar that can’t go to someone who plays a more important position. You can’t just say “Jamal deserves more” and look at it in a vacuum. Also, no one knows what next year’s salary cap will be, so it would be crazy to extend anyone now Are you listening, Carolina? I think that Douglas is off to an excellent start in building the team. The only area where I would fault him would be his non-communication with Adams once the draft ended. I do think that it would have been better if he had had a sit-down with Jamal to lay out the team’s thought process.
LionelRichie
This whole thing is just Jamal trying to get a new deal with a big SB before the cap potentially goes down next year. Jamal is a great player, the best on the team by far. But he’s still a safety and he’s smart to try to cash in now before the cap collapses. not sure how this ends but the only landing spots are teams trying to win in 2020. Nobody is going to pay him with this cap uncertainty.
