I'd keep him for $7mil in 2020, $10 mil in 2021, $12 mil tag in 2022 and about $15mil in 2023. Total 4 years for $44 mil. ZERO defensive snaps. Let the Khunt rot.

2023 will be around 40 Mil so no on that tag... but the point is there...

Sorry I was wrong its the 3rd that is a top 5 salary in the league not the 2nd

Much has been made about Jets safety Jamal Adams and his contract situation with the New York Jets in recent days, and now it seems we have some idea as to how much teams believe he’ll be looking for.

Jamal Adams’ future contract demands loom large in trade talks. If he wants pay among top defensive players – which one source whose team has looked into Adams believes – that’s well above $20M per year, while safety market is below $15M. Tough for a SS, no matter how good.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, a source that has looked in to Adams believes the asking price will be “well above $20 million per year”, which is quite the asking price for a safety no matter how versatile he might be.  Adams is entering the fourth year of his five-year deal, meaning the Jets have him under contract for two more seasons and possibly a third thanks to the franchise tag.

If Adams is in fact looking for the kind of money being reported, it’s going to be a long, drawn out negotiation process if he’s not traded before that.

61 tackles

One pick in garbage time of a blowout

Five sacks in two games against rookie QBs.

Actually both interceptions were in garbage time

edit nvm, thought these were overall. But both picks were in garbage time.

Anything different for 2023? My understanding was the tag figure increased by 20% every year after the initial tag. Is that not true?

I thought it was after the first tag the the 2nd was a top 5 salary in the league... its actually the 3rd tag is top 5 salary in the league not 2nd.

BUT.............He'll take less from 7 other teams

Sent from the Suicide Watch desk.

How endearing that must be to the rest of the Jets players.  His next two years are going to be hell and no team will want any part of him for the price.

Meanwhile, 2018 2nd round pick Darius Leonard's numbers last season, in 13 games:

  • 71 solo tackles
  • 5 INTs
  • 5.0 Sacks
  • 2 FFs
  • 7 PDs

And 30-year old Jamie Collins' numbers (14 starts):

  • 58 Solo Tackles
  • 3 INTS
  • 1 TD
  • 7.0 Sacks
  • 3 FFs
  • 1 FR
  • 7 PDs

Oh, look, more interceptions in 1 year (and 13 starts) than Jamal has in his entire career.

Jerry Jones probably made him do it so he doesn’t have to give up a 1st

Then Adams doesn't get what he wants.  Simple as that.  Douglas isn't going to take 50 cents on the dollar when he absolutely doesn't have to.  No panic move coming.
