Jon Gruden on Allegiant Stadium: 'Greatest thing I've ever seen'

Allegiant Stadium -- the brand new home of the Las Vegas Raiders -- is closing in on completion.

And Jon Gruden thinks it's "freaking awesome" and "the greatest thing" he has ever seen.

Those messages were part of a video message the Raiders coach delivered to the stadium workers who are getting the new confines ready for the upcoming season.

It was a nod to the workers' efforts and skills, especially coming amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and a bit of a locker room speech to get them fired up as they head to the home stretch of finishing the state-of-the-art stadium on 3333 Al Davis Way in Paradise, Nevada.

"I just had a couple thoughts. Working on my game plan. But I just have to tell you, the stadium looks freaking awesome," Gruden said in the video. "It's the greatest thing I've ever seen. And I just want to congratulate all you workers for an incredible accomplishment during adversity. It's the two-minute drill. You've done 99% of the work, maybe 97% of the work. I just challenge you to finish like a champion."

Construction began in November of 2017 and the stadium will house 65,000 fans at full capacity.

Before signing off, Gruden also had well wishes for the workers and presumably all of Raider Nation.

"I do want to remind everybody, too, be safe," he said. "Wear your mask, be safe and take care of yourselves. Love you guys, thank you."

I'm shocked he didnt trash the place.

You would think  he works for the Raiders or was hawking ticket sales

No need to hawk ticket sales, as everything is sold out. One of the  NFL  hottest tickets around.     First class facilities ( headquarters and Stadium) for a  first class organization.

Now time to bring a championship to Vegas.

Oh God.

We're second in attendance in the NFL, top 5 every year, sell a story that the Raiders, the vagabond losers who cant find a city to support them are a first class org?  LOL

Allegiant  stadium>>>>>>>>> New Giant Stadium( will always be second class in your own stadium) .  The Raiders Organization has much richer tradition than the Jets. ( Fact).   Btw glad to see you beat this covid-19 .   What did your doctor put you on , if you don’t mind answer that.

this just shows how out of touch with reality you are.  Or you are taking some serious illegal drugs.  The raiduhs are the trailer trash of the league.  Nomads their whole existence and now with mostly different fans every week in the seats from tourists visiting Vegas.  Over half the stadium won't be rooting for them.

Now to the serious stuff.  Thanks, appreciate it.  My doctors put me on Remdesivir.  Its an experimental antiviral drug originally designed to target Ebola of all things.  I think its only given to those who are in the extreme high risk category and that what I am as a dialysis patient.

My 70+ year old uncle (very large history of health issues) was just released from the hospital this morning after 2.5 intense weeks. Initially, the docs gave him a less than 30% chance of survival. About 9 days into the hospitalization, they introduced Remdesivir. Immediate and rapid improvement.

Glad to see you had a similar experience.

Thank you!

Yes, the Remdesivir gave me the same results.  My luck started with Covid hitting me while I was in dialysis.  The nurses spoke to my Nephrologist, who sent me to the hospital.  As soon as I was admitted, within hours I was administered Remdesivir.  If I was on my own, knowing me, I would have procrastinated and waited to admit myself.  If youre compromised, if you have respiratory issues getting early treatment is key.

Glad to hear your Uncle pulled through and is doing better.  Its one bitch of a virus, he'll need some time to recover from it if he has some of the residual effects like I had

One more thing, lol.

The Raiders dont own Allegiant stadium, they lease it.  You're tenants.

The Jets and Giants own Met Life.

And would love to know how many of those tickets were bought by Raiders fans, how many were gobbled up by Casinos to comp guests with.  People who could care less about the Raiders.

Sure it is.
And sure we are second class, no one here thinks that.  Calling Met Life Giants Stadium is not knowing anything about either building.  Two teams jointly owning a stadium, 50/50 doesnt make either team second class, makes them co-owners,

i dont know you sir but wish you the best of health. my dad, rip 2010, and a loyal jet fan, was on dialysis for 5 years. i hope you are getting the best of care and maybe explore natural support strategies to improve your quality of life. best to you!

Thank you, I appreciate the post and sorry for your loss.  I also lost my father, like your dad he was a huge Jet fan.

I've been on dialysis for 11 years.  Finally had some issue taken care of and am currently going through evaluation to see if I am a candidate for transplant.  Fingers crossed!

Thanks again

Yeah so?

Jets fans had nothing to do with the building of the new stadium.  And I’m in the rare position of defending Woody because he wanted a retractable roof and the pompous Maras said no

The Raiders were given the Henderson plot( for headquarters and training facility) for 6 million , and they turned around and sold it for 194 million .  They lease the Headquarters for next 25 years.
the Stadium the Raiders put up a chunk of their own money to build ( so I don’t think they don’t own something of the stadium).   Allegiant paid 25 million for the naming right.     Raiders are rolling in cash . They have so many corporate sponsors now.    All the PSl were sold out so fast.      Raiders are valued over 2 billion now as a franchise.

The stadium is owned by the Las Vegas Stadium Authority.  Met Life is owned by the Jets and Giants.

Forbes values the Jets as the NFLs 8th highest team at $3.2 B, revenue of $475 mil

Forbes values the Raiders as the NFL's 12th highest team.  Your over $2 B number is lower

No ones hurting but smacks the idea that the Raiders are world class or have more money that others is funny but expected.

When the Jets moved from Shea stadium to the meadowlands it was called what Stadium.  Giant Stadium .    Everyone in the metro Ny/ New Jersey area knows this( drive by you saw Giant stadium despite two teams sharing it). I .   Just because they built a brand new stadium on the same grounds and a corporate sponsor paid for the name( MetLife).  Doesn’t change the fact it will be always known as Giant stadium , despite the Jets/  Giants splitting the cost.

That’s like if the Raiders moved in with the 49ers , no one would think that wasn’t anything but the 49ers home.

Like the Mets , the Jets will always be second class citizens.  At least the Mets have their own place to call home.

No, its like if they were too move in with the LA Rams.  Oh wait, they did that.

Your vagabond team is on what, its 4th try and getting support?  Oakland, ran off.  LA and then ran back?  Oakland II and ran off.  Now onto Vegas.  You've got to be kidding with this stadium talk

It was called Giants stadium.  Which BOTH teams leased from NJ, just like the Raiders are leasing their stadium,  Im not getting your point or how you believe youre making a negative point.  The Giants had it in their original 30 year lease that the Stadium would be called Giants stadium, this was before corp naming rights.

You think this means anything to anyone?  I never did, never changed a thing

Dont know how to break this to the Mets thrashers but NYC is a NL town.  If the Mets win they won't be second to any here.  They've got a huge fanbase from the Giants/Dodgers years.  When the Mets win they've outdrawn the Yanks, pulled in bigger TV and Radio ratings.  Nation wide?  Yankees are king.  NYC?  Different story

WSS was a joke, was a turkey that was never going to happen as the Olympics were never coming to Manhattan.  Woody spent a few million to get free land in Manhattan as any businessman would, lay a few bucks on that long shot, why not.

Never before have so many grown men who barely have proper hygiene, wardrobes, or manners cared so much about the pretty dress a football stadium should be wearing.

They haven’t brushed their teeth in a month, drive rusty Toyota’s, and wear Members Only jackets but the building they’re too drunk to see needs to look like the Taj Majal.  It’s hysterical.

You may be right, but let me ask you this.....if Wellington Mara wanted to build that stadium for the Giants, does the deal get done?

And on top of that, I'd bet that at least a large chunk of those 65,000 tickets were bought by LV casinos to comp to wanna be high rollers out to piss away their mortgages or kids college funds, believing the stadium or a shltty Raiders game is a comp.  Home games where only part of the crowd cares.  As opposed to 80,000 plus ST holders for every game, every season at Met Lofe or at Giants Stadium before that and he’s bragging like we should be impressed
