Greenbloodblitz
Without even looking or listening, please tell me if I get this right!? Moronic Benigno is yelling and screaming that the Jets are the most terrible franchise there is and of course we traded away our best player cuz we're the Jets!? Evan is playing Robin to Joe's Batman and just agreeing with everything he says? You know I used to actually have respect for those guys back in the day. I honestly don't even think Benigno is that much of a die-hard fan anymore. The last few years he doesn't know who we traded for, who was an undrafted free agent what round anybody was drafted in Etc. They were best slotted as a blah blah blah talk show in the morning. I miss Boomer and Carton and I miss the Fatman. It was nice to switch back and forth because ESPN would talk a lot of Jets, but they've massacred their lineup as well. I like Rothenburg, lagreca, Carlton and I think Bart Scott will become something. Not looking forward to Keyshawn at all! Sorry to get off topic but Joe Benigno is a joke and I don't bother even listening anymore to him bashing the Jets-

It's a legitimate problem. What if there is no college football season this year? Then the extra first round pick will be even more of a crapshoot. There is still likely two years of tape, plus the combine, plus individual workouts, plus whatever postseason Senior Bowl type games they come up with. Ideally they will also be able to get these guys in the building and look at their medicals which is something teams couldn’t do this year.

Heck we don't even know if the guys Douglas drafted are going to be good. I hope to god they are all All-Pros but at this point we don't know if Mims will be a diva, Becton eats himself out of the league, Davis is a scrub. People b*tching about the "unknown" of draft picks is such a worthless argument. You can't build a contender without doing so through the draft. Its impossible. You need picks to make it happen. And again, people STILL insist on calling the draft a lottery, crap shoot, or roulette. It's a game of poker. About 25 % luck, 75 % skill. Even if Douglas got some of his picks wrong, the process and logic by which those picks happened was sound. Elite athletes: Check. Prioritizing positions of importance: Check. Making solid in-draft trades: Check. What's not to like about the job Douglas has done so far? Handing a guy like that a bunch of picks is a good decision. Building around a Strong Safety, handing him 10 % of the cap? That's a "known quantity" that no one should want any part of. Just ask the Redskins how it worked out when they handed Landon Collins a bunch of money. Give me the unknown over the known. Not to mention, it's not just picks. It's the cap space freed up by Jamal not being here. Douglas could miss on each of those picks and it still would work out as a net positive if we use that money to go out and sign someone like Allen Robinson or JuJu Smith-Schuster next offseason. We won this trade. It's not even a question. People can cry all the tears they want over Jamal being gone. He didn't want to be here, so no one should be upset about him being off the roster.

And if there is no college football (Which I think is absolutely possible this year) the draft becomes even a bigger crapshoot that usual because who is going to be that guy in the late 2nd, 3rd or 4th round that you are going to have alot of info on ? Joe Douglas does not represent Jets draft history. He represents a departure from Jets draft history.

This guy is not a #1 Cb he is not a guy like mack that can indeed wreck a game. Even if he was a disgruntled # 1 CB that would be a pretty impressive haul. The Jaguars won the Jalen Ramsey trade with the Rams. It was a better haul than we got, for sure, but not by a wide margin. But for a SS? This was an absolute heist. We'd be f**ked regardless, so who cares? I'm going to assume Douglas knows what he's doing with his picks until he gives me a good reason not to trust him. Douglas has a 6-year deal, so he's not going anywhere anytime soon regardless. In that light, I want him to have as many picks as possible. This is still a bottom 5 roster in the NFL. We'll need picks, and a lot of them, to change that. No more attempts at quick fixes. Spending sprees like 2010 and 2015 are the biggest reason why we haven't been to the playoffs in a decade. Douglas needs time and patience, and shouldn't be punished by Jets fans because of the GMs before him. He is not responsible for this roster being a dumpster fire prior to his arrival, and he's going to prioritize the draft to fix it, just like his old boss Ozzie Newsome did.
