Clowney wants to play for Jets!

Will Clowney take a one year deal with a 5 million base salary and
incentives that could take him up to 8-10 million???  If he'll take
that then bring him in

If we have the cap room this year, and can't carry over savings to next year (which I think is the case), then why would we care how much we pay him on a one year deal?  Burn the Johnson's money.

I'd like it to include a team option for 2021 maybe so if he does light it up this year, we can bring him back and/or use that leverage to extend him longer.

If Clowney wants a platform to advertise his skill set for the next long term deal then he could do worse than playing a season here with our DC.  Williams will find a way to feature his talents and then if we part ways after one or two years, it could be seriously beneficial for both sides.

If the mega-deal was going to hit him over the head (outside of Cleveland) then it would already have happened.  There are reasons for both sides to see if this could work.

Plus we just saved a ton of money not paying that sh1tbag Adams.

Amirite?

What's worth noting is Bradley McDougald's reputation as being a team-first, well liked football player.

He get's traded as a small component in a mega deal...he immediately tweets positively after being traded from a top ten NFL franchise to head to the Jets. Monday he is already recruiting!

We need more McDougalds...

Not too shabby Brad'ster, welcome to New York.

Yea but is he a leader of men?

Positives: It’d cheer Gregg up and it’d burn Jamal’s balls to see them give Clowney $20 mil

Negatives: Douglas has been saying all day that they weren’t going to pay Jamal because no one is sure what the financial picture looks like short-term. Hard to see them handing Clowney huge up-front money without knowing if they’re even going to play.

And he managed to get a second 1st round pick anyway!  Seattle must feel like Nanking.

yah but more importantly how is Clowney's twitter game?

Don't know, but it looks like we have another safety trying to recruit players.

MacDougal hasn't been here 5 minutes and he's tweeting "we need more dawgs!"

No he didn’t, don’t twist words.  IMO this is just a dig at Adams, McDougle is probably pissed Jamaal forced this trade, and that he happens to be collateral damage.

Talk about twisting words... :rl:

That's quite a scenario you just conjured up there.

So you hand him a one year deal at $20 mil and the season gets shortened/canceled and you just gave a dude $20 mil for nothing.

Since we’re not exactly trying to fit anyone else under the cap....That’s the Johnson’s money, not mine.

On a 1-year deal where we have the cap space to do it, it’s kind of a no brainer.

Also, it wouldn’t be for nothing if no season is played. He’d just be getting his $20M in 2021. No biggie.

Clowney and McDougald > Jamal and Basham.

Coincidently, Clowney is like Jamal in that he gets a lot of TFLs, pressures and plays sound football. But people want more sacks from Clowney just like people want more INTs from Jamal.

Well people want him to play more safety.

It is kind of interesting that Jamal was replaced by a guy with better numbers but less talent. And that guy wants us to get a guy with more talent than the dude we paid in Jenkins with less talent but good numbers. Jenkins went way below what Clowney would just because his ceiling...and that makes sense because if Clooney hit his ceiling it woulld be game changing plays that would result in wins for the team.

If jamal hit his ceiling it mean nothing really. Anyway whatever this comment probably doesn't make sense tired
