Free-agent WR Antonio Brown suspended eight games

NFLShield

Antonio Brown will officially miss half of the 2020 season.

Brown has been suspended eight games by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Friday. Brown is currently a free agent. He played just one game with the New England Patriots last season before being released.

Pelissero added Brown's suspension takes effect Week 1, regardless of whether he is on a team's roster, and could be extended if further violations are found related to an ongoing civil suit in Florida.

Around The NFL will have more on A.B.'s ban shortly.

ANTONIO BROWN SUSPENDED FOR FIRST 8 REGULAR-SEASON GAMES OF 2020 SEASON FOR VIOLATIONS OF NFL’S PERSONAL CONDUCT POLICY

Antonio Brown was notified today by NFL Special Counsel for Conduct Todd Jones that he has been suspended without pay for the first eight regular-season games of the 2020 season for multiple violations of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.

Brown, who played one game in the 2019 season for the New England Patriots before being released, is an unrestricted free agent and may sign with any team. If he is signed before the start of the 2020 season, Brown would be eligible to participate in all of his club's preseason activities. Brown's suspension would take effect as of the final roster reduction on September 5. He would be eligible to return after the team's eighth game.

As part of the discipline, Brown was directed to continue his program of counseling and treatment, and that he is expected fully to cooperate with his clinicians.

Brown was advised that any future violation of the Personal Conduct Policy will likely result in more significant discipline.

He’s done.

If his suspension gets games tacked on such that he can't play or doesn't get signed this year, I agree.  He has to get on the field this year to remain relevant.

By 2021 he'll be 33, and will have only caught a total of 4 passes in the 2 years prior.  And who knows what other trouble he'll get into while away from the league for a full season.

This dude should never play again. He's really brain damaged, on a scale of 1 to 10. He's at a 10. I don't what medical care is available, anyone left who cares about him should look into it

The burfict hit seemed like the beginning of the end for him

Can't  wait to see the Browns sign him. The Browns are like the NFL version of AA.

They’re turning into the early 2000’s Portland Jail Blazers except that team made the playoffs and almost got to a Finals

I don't want any part of him, but the guy had 15TDs in 2018.  He was on the Patriots for 20 minutes and had 4 catches and a TD.  Extrapolated over a 16 game season his numbers would have been 64/896/16.  You don't think somebody is going to take a chance on that?  Packers or Seahawks are probably most likely.  Maybe Tampa.

The suspensions aren't done yet, and I'm sure he'll find a way to get into more trouble.

He won't play this season even if/when someone signs him.  By the time he's eligible he'll be 33, at minimum, and would not have stepped on a football field for nearly 2 calendar years.

Not saying someone won't sign him or even that they shouldn't.  But it's fool's gold.  Josh Gordon has a better shot at being an impact player this year than Brown.
