I can hear Gase now saying that these Jets are the guys that want to be here and are team 1st players. Stick it Jamal.
nycdan
We are going to need this to be the best rookie class we've seen since Abraham/Richardson/Pennington/Coles to have a shot at a winning record. Could happen but only if these guys mostly step up and contribute from early on.

FidelioJet
I love y'all but this team isn't built or expected to win this year. I hope to be leading the charge next year on division championship potential. But this year, let's just root for our rookies and hope Sam doesn't get killed.

GreenReaper
Don't know about 12-4. 10-6...9-7...8-8...who knows what can win a wide open division like the AFCE. Just getting it done is all that matters. And Darnold gives Jets that chance. Best QB in the AFCE as far as I'm concerned. And going to bust out big. IMO...Jets can do it. Hope we have a season to find out. 1
TheNuuFaaolaExperience
Gase starts the season 6-2, which makes him 12-4 over a 16 game span. Proceeds to go 3-5, ends the season at 9-7, misses the playoffs, and gets a 4 year contract extension.

You wins games you would never predict as a win, like Dallas & Oakland last year and lose games you would never predict as losses, Bengals. Then there are the teams you think will be big winners who fall on their faces and arent a huge test. I'm looking at the overall season. Do I think the 2020 team, especially without a flood of injuries, is a better team that 2019? Do I expect Darnold to be better in year three, with his second season in this offense? Do I think the OL is better and should help unleash Bell at least a bit better than the Bell of 2019? Thats the way I go into the season.
pdxgreen
With this preseason schedule... I literally have no idea. But I do know one thing. Josh Allen has overcome any short comings he has as a player. I know that because I've read an article a week telling me how earnest and hard working he is. So it's gotta be true. How can you look at "the entire season" in terms of wins/losses without looking at the actual games and having an opinion on which are winnable and which are not likely to be won? Being "better" than 2019 is irrelevant, we're not playing the exact teams we played with the exact players they had in 2019. I agree we're better, and have said so repeatedly, but we also play a materially more difficulty schedule. I'm just having a hard time with a belief in a 9 win team without a basis in that 9 win idea supported by 9 winnable games. Is this kind of prediction basically just a "I feel we're better, so I'll add 2 wins to last year" kinda thing, without any actual analysis? Fair enough if it is I guess. You have to look at the season on a whole because we have no idea what the teams on the schedule will look like this season. Did we expect Pitt to be without Ben? What if Mahomes or Garopolo go down? Wilson? Would you have penciled Pitt, Oakland and Dallas as Ws or Ls heading into last season? I would if pressed said Ls. Doesnt work well that way. Its not a basically I feel that way proposition. The only thing I feel secure in is that barring another injury riddled season the QB position, the OL, the TEs, the WRs, the CBs should all be better. Thats all I have to go on. So 2 wins isnt that hard to see as a possibility. To me if you believe we've helped ourselves in those areas or arent worse than last years teams why should we win more games? The schedule, strength of schedule are the least predictable of all the variables. The strength of schedule going into a season rarely holds true once the games are played

They’re way too often fools gold. I know we are beating a dead horse here you and I, but in your opinion the roster is downgraded specifically due to the departure of Robby and Beachum correct? We can include Adams but you were making this argument before Adams left. We brought in multiple lineman at multiple positions. We lost Beachum who was playing at JAG levels last year and is now another year older and a backup in Arizona? We lost a Jag OL and average starter WR, and traded an "elite" safety. We brought in: Breshad Perriman, receiver. Greg Van Roten, guard. Connor McGovern, center. George Fant, offensive tackle. Pierre Desir, Cornerback Patrick Onwuasor, Inside Linebacker Bradley McDougald, Safety Josh Doctson, Receiver Some other random JAGs.... As much as I wasn't a fan of Jamal I can see saying the defensive roster took a hit from his departure, but with the other two you are splitting a hair five ways.

Yes, I realize I’m on an island with the OL - but here’s the reality. Last year we had the worst OL in football, probably the worst OL I’ve ever seen the Jets field. If it’s improved, it’s barely improved with massive questions marks...everywhere. So even if it is better it’s still a bottom of the league OL - and this fan base seems ecstatic about that. I get JD is trying to build for the future and trying to sign smart contracts - but the OL was simply not a place where he could mess around...yet, he did. If you’re Sam Darnold do you think he’s looking at the line has protecting him and thinkBig yeah - Our GM really did a great job and built the line I need to be a top 10 passer. Yeah, I get we dont know how much better the OL will be but no one seems to thing it will be marginally better. And marginally better would give Sam more time and room to operate. I guess I just dont get the idea that JD passed on all these great OL that were available. Who were these beasts that we missed out on? Conklin? Becton has all the makings of a better T Yeah, if im Sam Darnold I do think that JD helped the OL.

I can't recall my actual preseason predictions, but I think I had one of those three as a "W". And I predicted a Pitt loss because at the time I made the prediction Ben was healthy, so no worries there either. And Dallas was only a shock because of when it happened, not that it happened. 16 hours ago, Jet Nut said: The only thing I feel secure in is that barring another injury riddled season the QB position, the OL, the TEs, the WRs, the CBs should all be better. If we were playing the exact same 2019 schedule, with the exact same players on their teams......sure, the +2 wins would make total sense, we're better, they're the same, I too would say "yeah, we're at least 2 wins net better now". But we're not playing the 2019 schedule and players, we're playing the 2020 schedule and players. Now without Mosely to boot. A materially harder schedule. I'm not even disagreeing with your prediction per se, as I am with how you get there. I just can't see making that kind of prediction without looking game to game and at least saying "winnable", "maybe" and "lol, nope" a little first. 16 hours ago, Jet Nut said: To me if you believe we've helped ourselves in those areas or arent worse than last years teams why should we win more games?
