Mims has been out for a week???

Jets WR Vyncint Smith ran with the first-string offense in practice Friday.

Denzel Mims (undisclosed) has been absent the past week of camp, which has allowed Smith to compete for the team's No. 3 receiving role behind Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman. This is notable news for the latter as it's Smith and Mims who are clearly in competition to start in three-wide sets and not, as initially thought, Mims and Perriman. The 26-year-old free agent signing, who most recently flashed over the final month of the season in Tampa, remains a confident flier at his current 13th-round ADP as the WR57.

Could’ve sworn he was working out last week. Wonder how accurate that is.

uhhhhhh. I’ll call this good for now

Exactly.  Never know quite how to interpret some of these things.  I will take the glass half full approach -- learning curve for Becton, and maybe Williams is ready to take a step this year.  All from one tweet.;

Jeff Smith was promoted to the Jets’ active roster last Monday, as the team was forced to send cornerback Kyron Brown to injured reserve. After just one appearance for the green and white, in a 42-21 loss to the Ravens, Smith’s season has come to and as well.

The undrafted rookie wide receiver suffered a high-ankle sprain in Thursday’s loss. The injury will sideline Smith for the rest of this season, ending his short tenure with Gang Green.

Smith finished his day with one catch for 12 yards on two targets.

If Mims got hurt two days ago, this is bad work by Hughes.
