Popular Post FidelioJet
This is precisely the type is signing I would expect. 32 year old journeyman that’s averaged less than 400 a year over his 7 years. Coming off his worst season as a pro. 4 3

Popular Post maury77
Disappointed in this signing, there were other WRs I would have preferred that are available and should have been reasonably cheap. This doesn't help Darnold all that much. 5 1 1

It’s a solid signing. I like it. But it is what it is, a solid vet and depth player. people around here are still holding out hope for a splashy signing/trade. It’s just not going to happen this year. It’s another rebuilding year - but I’m a bad guy for pointing out what’s obvious to everyone outside of JetNation. there isn’t a sincere attempt to field a truly competitive roster this year. That’s all I’ve been saying! You're right. I get the reasoning by Joe Douglas. With a 6 year contract he can afford to take the long view which is that this team really does have the worst talent in the NFL and a couple splashy signings would just get us to 8-8. This team will continue to be kneecapped for at least 2 more seasons from the dead cap fallout of Trumaine Johnson, Quincy Enunwa along with the contracts for Bell and CJ Mosley. Next year's wide receiver class will be very good. JD is going to crush it next off season with free agents and a haul of high draft picks. We've always been saying we're a few years away but it was always opaque. It is clear now. 2022 this team will be JD's baby and I expect us to be a perennial playoff contender. 10 1

You're 1st post was miserable like @TheMo I agree, the wording in the previous post did come across too negative. The point is, a signing like that is the minimum necessary to not be negligent. I’ve said it before, while I would prefer to try and win now, JD isn’t half-assing it, he’s all in on the rebuild. And I would prefer that to Macs “competitive rebuild” nonsense. 6

We are in a very good position for FA next year. Better than 80% of NFL teams. That is a result of JD not overspending this year in light of the Cap ramifications due to COVID. Camp cuts this year and FA next year will be a buyer’s market for teams that showed restraint this year. Also, with 5 picks in the top 100 next year, Offensive talent should be readily addressed. Another #1 rated WR and Edge should continue to be addressed with our two #1 picks. Center, CB, TE/RB round 2 & 3. Go JETS 5
