Honestly hope he comes in for a couple of downs and then pulls an immediate retirement.

"Alex.  You did more than any human has a right to do.  Retire and be happy with your family."

This is my hope as well!

I don't want him hurt further... it is only a GAME!

And one he has already been compensated handsomely for playing.

His net worth is estimated to be $55M.

Yep, and he’ll probably get a job with a major network for CFB or NFL. I doubt he’ll actually see any real snaps, maybe a victory formation, then hang it up

A few years ago (just prior to Darnold), I was convinced Alex Smith was going to be our next QB.  He's actually a very solid QB but I don't think he's a guy you win a Superbowl with.  In any case, I'm glad the guy is okay and I hope he goes into the booth.  Considering what Romo gets paid, I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least a player or two who retire early and go straight to the booth.

Players are not playing and opting out because of the flu but this guy almost loses his leg and is ready are raring to go. CJ Mosely should be ashamed of himself!

true enough.  i guess you do have to consider how these players may impact their families.  in some cases the players have kids or parents who are vulnerable to covid and if they opt out it's out of family concerns.  can't say i blame them.

If he doesn't want to retire, why are so many people so interested in telling him to retire?

I'd wager he knows the risks (and his own body) a hell of alot better than any of you do.

If he's no good and/or can't play at this point, the team will cut him.  Even the WFT doesn't play QB's as charity cases.  Him not being ready or able won't be an issue, if he's not, he never sees a uniform much less the field.

Why not just let him decide what he wants to do?

The "just retire already" schtick confuses me every time, like it matters or makes a difference to any of you?

Got to give him tremendous props.  He had a compound fracture that got infected and could have killed him.  17 surgeries.  He's lucky to be alive and walking.  I think he's nuts to try and play again but I understand.  The goal of getting back to playing probably played a big role in his recovery both physically and mentally.

I was never a fan but I'm a fan of his now whatever he decides to do.

Totally different scenario.  When your life is in the balance it's the forward goals that motivate you.  You can't lay that on Mosley.

To me the leg doesn't look that bad but he was definitely favoring it.  If somebody said he would be ready in a couple of weeks for a regular job, I might believe them.  Ready for football seems like a stretch.

I wish him well but he certainly looks like he’s limping. I’d be shocked if he ever plays in a game again.

If the 49ers punt returner doesn't fumble twice against the Giants, I truly believe he has a ring.

The dude's on the books for $16M this year, with $40M more coming over the following two years if he can keep himself from getting cut or renegotiated. Does he think he can beat out Haskins? I bet he does.

Haskins didn’t bother to learn the playbook last year and their new head coach seems to hate him.  Don’t be shocked if Smith is starting by October

What a story.

personally I don’t think he should playa again but I’m sure he wants to go out in his terms when he feels he’s ready.

im definitely worried for him, but at the same time it’s hard not to be rooting for him.

Some of those videos of him were absolutely hard to watch. The fact that leg was able to remain intact is a miracle in its own right.
