Joe Judge rehearses TV interview during Giants scrimmage

Recommended Posts

Quote

As he came off the field after the first half of Friday night’s scrimmage, Joe Judge paused for a few minutes to conduct a halftime interview before he headed into the locker room.

A halftime interview in a scrimmage? Yup.

Judge, ever details-conscious, wanted to make this as exact a facsimile to a real game as he could.

“Absolutely,’’ he said. “Everything we did was very intentional, in making sure we checked every box for what myself, every other coach and every player would experience as close as we can to when we play our opening night game.’’

This included the halftime and post-scrimmage interviews. This included Judge throwing the red challenge flag to explore whether or not Saquon Barkley stepped out of bounds on a sideline run (he did not).

I have no comment.

@T0mShane, your thoughts?

We are witnessing a future legendary coach. This guy is the most detailed oriented/No BS SOB in the league right now.

This has been said about 10x before about former Patriot assistants over the last 15+ years.  It hasn't worked out yet.

The only former Patriot coach or player that has worked out at all as a HC has been Vrabel, and that's only because of 2 factors:  1) He didn't coach under Belichick, and 2) He didn't try to be Belichick.

These guys aren't reinventing the wheel or changing the way coaches coach.  There have been plenty of a$$holes like Joe Judge who have come before him, and there will be many who come after him.  If he doesn't win immediately (he won't), players will end up tuning him out, and free agents won't want to come there.

This guy is different. I think he had a bigger impact than BB on the Pats the last 5 years. It’s obvious he was disciplining the players.
