There’s only one team in the AFC that scares me.

God forbid Mahomes goes out. If he did the AFC is wide open.

Clearly this new regime isn’t all in on Sam.

Otherwise they would have loaded up offensively to attempt a Super Bowl run.

What does loading up and going for it look like personnel wise?

Because the team is more than 1 or 2 pieces away and they dont want to make stupid moves that will hamstring them for the next few years.

If you actually cant comprehend this, there is something wrong.

The Jets have constantly been the worst drafting and GM’ed team in the NFL, for almost a decade. I do believe we now have a half competent GM in Douglas.

It’s going to take him at least another two years to get this team back on the right path. I think he’s done a pretty good job over the last Draft, and Free Agency period.

This isn’t the right time to go all in, 2020 is a year to see if Darnold is the real deal regardless of results, he’s throwing to street level free agents.

The way things are now it will be mid year to get an idea, with no Pre-season or starting receivers.

We wouldn't have been close to a superbowl even if we wagered our future and given up every first round pick in the next 8 drafts.  We could have traded them all for top lvl talent, and we could have blown the bank with FA signings (and this was a bad year for FAs).

But the NFL doesn't work that way.  Super teams of mercenaries rarely work well, and those that do had strong cores that had been established for years.

We dont even have a core.  Now that Adams is gone, there's not a single player other than Sam that I know for a fact will be here 3 years from now.   And i'm not even 100% about that.

What we have are tons of unproven 'potential' talent.  And where we have proven talent, well they tend to be either aging, or injury prone.

So yea, Douglas read the situation perfectly correctly, and he's building for the future.  Our draft and FA was largely compromised of project players, as opposed to win now players.  Depending on how we develop this year, I expect that strategy will shift.

I think you’re right.  JD dues not believe Sam Is his guy.  Seems pretty clear to me.

Why havent the Jets spent big on free agents to "go for it"?

Two major effects of Covid 19

1-Nobody has any idea how or even if this season is going to play out.

2-Nobody has any idea what next years salary cap is going to look like after all the lost revenue from this year.

i don't think that's realistic.  imo playoffs are a good possibility as is winning the division but this team is still lacking in big play ability on the offense and defense.  they're not going to scare anyone and this means they need their A game every sunday.

AFCE sucks this year.  Pats are tanking, Dolphins are a 6 win team maybe and the sweethearts of the media the Bills are overrated

if anything this is the year jets should go all in
