Jets release Maher

Recommended Posts

Jets waived K Brett Maher, leaving Sam Ficken as the team's Week 1 starter.

Maher, who excelled for a while in Dallas, lost out to Ficken in their training camp battle. Ficken started 15 games for New York last year, converting an abysmal 19 of his 27 field goal tries, along with 23 of 26 extra points. Perhaps he showed improvement during camp, or Maher was just worse. Look for Maher to catch on with a kicker-needy team during the season.

The jets again this year did not do enough in this department and once again it will cost them games.

We used a pick on a Punter.  Did you want them to use a pick on a Kicker, too?

Let's wait until final roster cutdowns before complaining about yet another thing Joe Douglas "failed to do" to fix Macc's broken roster.

No I want them to scour the league for good vet kickers and some where available this year.

Last year we scoured and got dog kickers who cost us at least one if not more games.

So far under this regime and certainty the last they never gave a sh*t about kickers.

And that's exactly what I'm talking about.  Sep 5 is when teams will be cutting dozens of players, including Kickers.

Unless of course you want to bring in weak-legged Stephen Hauschka to kick in MetLife.  He's readily available....
