Bengals signing RB Joe Mixon to 4-year, $48M extension

 

Joe Mixon is staying in Cincinnati for a while.

The Bengals are signing the running back to a four-year contract extension, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, per a source. The deal is worth $48 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, according to a source informed.

It's a fair deal. Mixon is a great running back, and they have a potentially elite QB on a rookie contract.

I don't think thats a good move. He will soon be in trouble with multiple fines and suspensions and they will have to eat that money.

I don't think he'll ever see all of that money. That's a ton of cash for a RB in today's NFL.

I'd have to imagine it's more of a 2 year deal with front loaded money

He’s a top 10 RB so it makes sense. It takes pressure off of Burrow.

He was the pick but Mac would not pick him.   He slugged a girl in a coffee shop.  Both probably drinking.   Got suspended.  Repented.  No trouble since.  He is clean for at least 6 years.

Yup and has performed really well on awful teams. But the history of big contacts for RBs Is not pretty.

even if they 'work out' you can probably get 60-70% (if not more) of the production for less than half the price...usually a lot less.
