Unreasonable? Kamara is in the same tier as CMC (and you could easily argue he's better).

Him getting just as much as CMC is far from unreasonable

Gonna disagree there. He’s never handled the workload like CMC and hasn’t been healthy. Wasn’t great last year. He gets Joe mixon money at best.

Not saying he's better than CMC (although you could make the argument and I wouldn't be mad if someone did), but I do believe they're in the same tier.

Kamara was hurt last year, so I'll concede the hasn't been healthy part.

And he's definitely better than Mixon, so if Mixon gets 12 mil a year then he should get more. Give him 14.5 - 15 mil and call it a day ??‍♂️

You don’t need a high paid RB to win a Super Bowl so NO.
Build a great line & Thomas Jones can run all day.

I agree with this philosophy however judging from the whining on this board about our lack of WRs, teams can't have it both ways.

If you want the low priced RB, you need to use a 2-4th round pick on a RB at minimum every other year, even if you hit on one as you are going to be continuously changing an important starter every 3 years.  You also need continuity in offensive scheme to be able to target a certain type of RB, like Shanahan can do in SF.

As for Kamara, I hope for his sake he isnt holding out for $16 if hes got something like 4 years $12/per and $30 guaranteed.   He could get hurt at any point and while I certainly wouldn't play out this year at $2.1, he also can't turn down Mixon type money.

This is an interesting proposal depending on the draft compensation.  Bell has 3 years at 44 million left on his contract.  Kamara looking for 16 million a year so a 3 year 48 million wouldn't be a whole lot more.  Bell is 28, Kamara is 25.  Still don't believe in spending big on a RB but its an interesting idea.

New York Jets

How about a Kamara for Le'Veon Bell swap? The Saints and Jets could entertain the possibility as a way to rid each other of their running back problems. Bell and Jets head coach Adam Gase have had their disagreements and the Jets would certainly like to rid themselves of Bell's massive contract. The Saints, should they choose not to sign Kamara to an extension, could ship him off to New York and get a playmaker in Bell, whose receiving ability would fit nicely as a check down option for Brees.

Despite Bell's subpar 2019 season, he still has a few good years left in him. Put Bell behind a good offensive line and he'll revert back to his days with the Steelers. The Saints will reap the rewards of Bell and still be Super Bowl contenders while the Jets will get a younger back in Kamara that's a stronger fit in a Gase offense. Kamara will also receive plenty of target volume given the Jets' depth at receiver.

The Saints may actually get a draft pick back for taking on Bell's contract. Just a thought.

kamara is in his contract year and will no doubt go after some big bucks after this season.  unless a team is willing to sign this guy to mcaffery money then at best he'd be a one year rental.  plus he apparently has some health issues.  best for the jets to stay away unless the saints would settle for a low draft pick.

Where the hell are they going to find that cap space?

Reported as $75M over 5 years.  They literally do not have that space this season and are already more than $70M over the cap for 2021.  They are going to have to have a complete fire sale next year, which explains why Brees said he's on a short clock.  I think this is clearly his last season.

So looking at who is for sale next year:

Lattimore saves them $10M.  Yes please.

Ramczyk saves them $11M.  I'll take two!
