The way Jamal went about it was wrong, but he did have a valid argument with his draft-mates getting paid now.

Tre'Davious White is the newest player to get a massive deal from 2017 draft class.

All the elite players from that draft class are getting paid. Mahomes, Watson, Mccaffery, Kittle, Garrett, and White all got record breaking deals.

If what he said was true about Douglas cutting off communications, he has the right to be angry. All the other teams at least tried to work out a deal with their elite players. It's not like the Jets are cap strapped or need to sign upcoming players.

Now the compensation for Adams was nice but it looks like the Jets also did him dirty in contract negotiations.

Premium positions.

If he was worth it Seattle would have paid him already.

While talented, Jamal still has a lot to prove as far as getting a large long term contract.

Non premium secondary position, who doesn’t intercept passes...and is a big a$$hole.

Mccaffery is a RB. Kittle is a TE.

They are 2 of the top 10 (or so) offensive weapons in the league right now.  They transcend position because of their play.

Jamal Adams is a Box Safety and will always be a Box Safety.  He transcends nothing.

Not overpaying for Adams and getting the picks he did is an A+ from me. This team wasn’t contending for a super bowl this year and still needs a talent overhaul.

I think you are shortchanging JAs athletic capabilities. In all other respects you are spot on.
JD said day 1 that he wanted to rebuild the team culture. Why would you want to give a poisonous twit a big contact?  And a year early to boot.

Also, the deal is 4 years for 70 million.  That's a steal for a player like White.

It also doesn't void any years on his rookie deal so he's with the Bills for 6 years...the next two still on his rookie deal. That's a crazy deal. I wonder if the cap contraction was a big factor because I don't know why he would sign a deal like that otherwise.

The minute you publicly throw your head coach under the bus & yell to Cowboys fans that you’re trying to get to Dallas..anything that Joe Douglas did that might of hurt his feelings becomes pretty justifiable to me.

oh, & congrats on signing a great player, at a PREMIUM position, to a long term deal. Some who still agree that we should of re-signed a safety with 2 years left on his deal also wish Safety was a premium position...then maybe they’d have more of a point.

But he's Safety.  That's the difference between him and the guys who got paid early.

The guy was a me-first, phony schmuck. A very good but not great player. But a first class jack-ass. Could prove to be the best trade in franchise history.

Adams doesn't have the impact, never mind consistently, which any of those guys has. Maybe in his own mind and those with a man crush on him. You aren't doing someone 'dirty' by not caving to them as negotiations are a two way street and Jamal had been bad mouthing the organization publicly, plus he chose to play safety (he should have done some career research in high school). Jamal did himself dirty unless he intended on pushing his way out, and in that case anyone who thinks the Jets did him wrong is a useful idiot as Stalin would say.
