I totally didn't understand, I didn't get it, and it's something I regret.' Him doing that out of the blue really showed who he is as a man and our relationship and the character he has and how he's grown. How he's able to sit down and reflect and really think about his actions and his decisions. I think just as a man, regardless of the NFL or being a head coach or whatever, that's something I admire and appreciate and love about him." 11 4

Popular Post Warfish
Gase isn't my uncle or friend or mentor. He's the Head Coach of my favorite football team. Wins. Losses. Popular Post T0mShane
On a serious note, it really sounds like Gase has turned a corner somewhere along the way, and he’s not nearly as combative. Good to see. Maybe those lonely simp fans who need their coaches to also be their pretend friends will chill out a little bit. 8

Interviews where he gets to talk football and not injuries and narrative driven drama can be captivating. Second, if you look at it Gase is surrounded by a phenomenal coaching staff, easily the best since the ridiculous coaching staff we had on Parcells. 9

A stubborn my way or the high way kind of coach which just doesn’t work in today’s NFL.

Most people grow and evolve in different ways, and in different time frames, over the course of their lives. And that's usually a good thing. Coaches are no exception. No sane person should have anything but positive things to say and think about this. 4 1

His players clearly like him for the most part. Of course this doesn’t fit the fun “Gase is an autistic dick” narrative. Problem is, he’s supposed to be a good offensive coach and his offenses are terrible year after year. 2 1

Hint: We can't, We have no way, as fans, to know or to judge "respect" of a Coach by the players in any real way. No, hater and fluff articles are not a valid evaluation tool of "respect" So again, we're back to: Wins. Losses. Production. Beerfish
The only thing that matters is the results. There have been coaches who: - Were nice guys and ace communicators. - Were coddlers - Were assholes who berated you. - Were guys who did not talk to you. - Were great leaders of men - Were not great leaders of men but were studious football geniuses. Gase is not good or bad because he does or does not talk to players who need head pats. He is an offensive coach who's offenses suck, that is why he is a bad coach for the NY Jets 2
TNJet
I'll like Gase when he brings the Jets a winning season. Until then he's an overpaid overhyped coach.

Greenbloodblitz
I like when it looks like Gase just took a couple of bat hits at the press conference after the game and drops his water bottle before he leaves the podium and smiles as he walks away. SAR I
Gase is a great head coach. Perhaps he's not a great offensive coordinator, but that doesn't matter, coordinators are dime a dozen.
