Jetsfan80
I didn't realize until today that Clay Matthews is still a free agent. Would anyone be opposed to signing him in Week 2, when his salary wouldn't be guaranteed? Yes, he's 34 years old, and about 4-5 years past the end of his prime. But beggars can't be choosers when it comes to pass rushers. He recorded the following last season with the Rams, in 13 games: 8 Sacks 2 FFs 9 TFLs 11 QB Hits 28 QB Pressures 16 QB Hurries 4 QB Knockdowns 3 Pass Deflections Compare that to Jordan Jenkins' productivity, in 14 games last season: 8 Sacks 2 FFs 9 TFLs 13 QB Hits 16 QB Pressures 4 QB Hurries 4 QB Knockdowns 3 Pass Deflections Why not? peebag
Someone will pick him up, just not sure it's the Jets.
Greenseed4
Does he still have long hair?

Gangrene
From NFL.com "The Los Angeles Rams cut Matthews earlier this offseason but still owe him a $2 million bonus. Any deal he signs would offset portions of that $2 million. So, if the Broncos – or any other team -- weren't offering more than $2 million, he'd essentially be playing for free. Matthews can always wait to see if a better opportunity with potentially more money presents itself. Maybe he comes back late in the year as a situational rusher on a Super Bowl contender. Or he could always sit out the year like so many others who opted out, collect his $2 million from L.A., and see if he can land a new gig in 2021."

Biggs
He's a penalty machine that's a step slower than when he was good enough to get to the passer.
joewilly12
I mentioned signing him weeks ago and many didn't like the idea.
TNJet
I'd rather put a Huff/Zuniga combo opposite Jenkins.

Sure, but you can always use more pass rushers, even if Matthews falls behind those 2 on the depth chart. I didn't know about the financial piece that @Gangrene posted, however. It doesn't make much sense for Matthews to sign anywhere this season. It would make perfect sense for him to sit out the season, collect his $2M from the Rams, then retire in 2021. Shampoo commercials maybe?
Jethead
NY Jets = Elephant's graveyard. If JD does this he should be fired on the spot.
