Darnold is being Tannehill'd

I know he has no weapons, etc, but Gase also is not letting him throw, likely afraid of a mistake.   Making Sam a game manager is not ideal and poor job by Gase calling such a safe gameplan  poor job by Douglas not having one NFl caliber WR or any reliable weapons for a young QB to rely on (and not resigning the one WR that he had chemistry with).

Remember that play that broke down and Darnold scrambled out and made an awesome play? Remember him doing that his rookie year?

Gase does not like the following:

1. Audibles. He calls the good plays so no need to do so

2. Scrambling out of the pocket. QBs are meant to be in the pocket. That's the way the game is played! Stay there! AND HE JUST TOLD YOU HE CALLED THE GOOD PLAY so there's NO reason you need to improvise!

3. He's a big fan of up the gut, quick hitting runs in all situations even if the defense knows you're going to do it. Frank Gore is one of the greatest of all time at doing this!

4. Gase loves 'getting the ball to his playmakers'. Remember he left his wife while she was giving birth so he could go drawn up the good plays for Peyton Manning! So getting them the ball ASAP even if they're ten yards behind the LoS is how you have a good offense.

The shambling corpse of Peyton Manning came  up with a short passing offense that allowed him to continue to play and well...Adam Gase was there ..so if it's good enough for the greatest QB of all time then why can't Sam Darnold make it work?

It's not unreasonable to think that Darnold would be much farther along if he hand continued under someone like Jeremy Bates and the Jets had replaced Macc earlier to rebuild the OLine.  Certainly couldn't be worse.

It’s not unreasonable to think that Darnold would be much farther along if he was on the Broncos.  ?

Darnold is a lost cause. Even if he was “good”, the timing is terrible because of his contract needing to be extended in 1 year. Move on and BUILD A TEAM FIRST WITH A VET QB. Then plug in a rookie QB that is set up to succeed and have a 5 year window to make a run while you use extra salary cap space on keeping your whole team loaded with talent.

It’s not rocket science and we need to give JD a chance to do this with a new coach starting next year. No fan wants to be patient and have to wait more but this is the only probable way we get out of this hole.

What? According to this board he should overcome a terrible line, coach, skill players, and play calling all by himself.

Darnold really needed to elevate Frank Gore, Josh Malone and the other players around him today.  And, he needed to levitate Perriman and Hogan off the trainer's table and back into the game.

If only he could have caught the TD pass for Herndon.

That's the take. Dickhead had 4 touchdowns today and played like a beast.

God damn right. Gase sucks. It’s no coincidence.  Used car salesmen sold CJ with Manning giving the sealing kiss of death.

anyone that thinks Gase isn’t a huge problem is blind

I dont think Darnold is ever going to amount to anything more than a serviceable backup wherever he goes after it flames out here.

Said when Darnold came out that his ceiling was Romo and floor Sanchez. Of course I was called a SOJF loser for this "ridiculously pessimistic view."

Well good news, now Darnold's floor and ceiling have narrowed. Both are Sanchez.

We're probably never going to know at this point with Sam and that's a shame.

We need to fire Gase, bring in a new Head Coach, and if we have a premium pick, look really hard at drafting a player like Lawrence or Fields and let Sam go and try and figure it out elsewhere.

I don't think you can pass on either of those 2 QBs if you have a top pick. The Cardinals dumped Rosen because Murray was their guy. I don't see how Lawrence isn't going to be at the top of a lot of teams draft boards, and Fields should be up there as well.

Damn, it's September and i'm already talking about the draft. This sucks.

This is absolutely true.  Gase is an abomination and cannot be allowed to ruin Darnold.

Unfortunately, I think it is too late for that.  Darnold may still be a good QB someday,  But he may need a fresh start elsewhere.

Darnold has had no chance at all, like none.  First two years the oline was a travesty and no weapons.  Here we are in year three and the team has a marginally better oline and has no weapons at all.

People must not watch other games to realize just how atrocious the other parts of our team are and just how bad gase is.

Flat out drops are rare in other games and we have many, the play calling and design is good, guns run free.
