Saquon Barkley Out for the Season

Recommended Posts

He also seems to be steaming mad at the Giants as he has removed all team references, photos, and posts from his IG which is quite strange.

Late 1st is the time to start taking running backs. Kansas City hit a home run with their 1st round running back this year as an example

Brutal.

The Jets and the Giants are both going to have top 5 picks, most likely.

But, at least the Giants are competitive and don't get blown out every game.

That's about to change.  They've got the 49ers, Rams and Cowboys in their next 3 games.

Granted, they didn't get blown out by the Steelers.  But 26-16 in a home game isn't exactly "keeping it close" either.

I like Barkley and it is too bad about his injury, but this is why you don't take a running back with the 2nd pick in the draft.

His talent level though is really hard to find. We haven't drafted an top notch RB in 40 years,

Sucks for him though.

Ouch. Yea.

(Although the 49ers game could be winnable now)

This draft might one day be considered as much for the running backs as for the wide receivers.  James Taylor, Halaire-Smith, Dobbins, Antonio Gibson  and that UDFA James Robinson  are a few running backs that are looking very good so far.  I hope Perine can join them once he gets on the field.

Giants should have traded the pick  perhaps to a team looking for a quarterback, and got some more draft assets or players.   As good as Barkley is and was projected to be, the position he plays did not justify his draft position.

If the Giants really want to evaluate Daniel Jones' FQB prospects and ability to raise those around him then they need to not only lose Barkley but sideline Sterling Shepherd and Darius Slayton as well.

That wont happen with Gettlemen running the show. He would have to admit Jones is a failure.  Douglas doesnt have that issue with Darnold

this is really too bad

his Giants tenure has been anything but good.

Well lets face it. The first dumb thing they did was trading OBJ and still having a bunch of his salary on their cap.  Not only did it allow teams to focus more closely on him, but some what hamstrung the FO ability to bring reinforcements.    Imagine if they had kept OBJ, Barkley and Daniel Jones.  Both Barkley and Jones were not going to be making a lot of money so you could afford OBJ salary and give your young qb a few nice weapons to develop with.    Never understood what they were thinking...   I realize the traded OBJ away before drafting Jones but we knew they wanted a quarterback after not taking one the previous year.     Lets face it, the Giants have been something of train wreck themselves the last few years but because they those Super Bowl Trophies, they can get away it with a lot more than the Jets can.

Or they can switch them out for the Jets receivers.

James Taylor has an amazing voice, but he's not really much of a threat with the ball.

Now Jonathan Taylor on the other hand...

He's seen fire and he's seen rain, but not a Linebacker with 4.5 40 speed.

He could trade the pick to team who wanted him though.

This NFL season is going to be about which teams can survive attrition the best.

If you hadn't already, count the Jets out.

Drew Lock is out 2-6 weeks with a shoulder and Courtland Sutton is done for the year. So much for the Broncos hype
