Popular Post 32EBoozer
https://nypost.com/2020/09/22/mekhi-becton-has-been-jets-massive-draft-success-one-of-the-best-already/ The Jets may be the worst team in the NFL through two weeks. They may have been overwhelmed by the Bills and injury-depleted 49ers. They may be going nowhere but south. But there is one reason for optimism. Rookie left tackle Mekhi Becton looks like an absolute keeper, several experts believe. Take former Jets and Patriots offensive lineman Damien Woody, for instance. “I would venture to say he’s one of the best OTs in the game already,” the ESPN analyst tweeted. He was quote-tweeting a video posted by the NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger of Becton’s impressive highlights on Sunday against the 49ers when he showed Becton more than holding his own against Nick Bosa before Bosa got hurt and other plays that showed Becton dominating the man across from him. –– ADVERTISEMENT –– “.@nyjets only a suggestion. Become a ‘left handed’ team and run behind ‘Highway 77’ He makes grown men disappear @BigTicket73 #BaldysBreakdowns,” Baldinger tweeted. Geoff Schwartz, a former longtime NFL offensive lineman who works for Sirius XM, had a similar take. “Mekhi Becton has elite recovery skills in pass pro,” he tweeted in a video of Becton going up against Bosa. Pro Football Focus rated Becton as the No. 1 offensive rookie so far, grading him out at 79.7. 8

Popular Post jetstream23
It's a step. One solid, very positive step. But this is a marathon and the Jets are waaaay behind the pack. Need about 7 or 8 more Draft picks to work out like Becton and then the Jets can get into the playoff conversation. What Joe D has done with his first 1st round pick he now needs to do with both 1sts next year, hopefully at the Edge Rusher and WR positions.

And when it comes to impact, Left Tackle is the 2nd or 3rd most important position on the field. Box Safety is barely above Long Snapper in importance. Having a young franchise LT would be a huge building block for this otherwise dogsh*t roster. 3 1

I was probably more hyped then anyone here that we got him and his play so far has been really good. I just find clinging to PFF grades in a season like this to be laughable. The Jets are far and away the worst team in the league despite Becton. You wanted to rain on everyones parade when they were excited about an all pro best at his position player in the game so you have to be ready to have people say the same about Mekhi. So far despite the awesome start to his career it has had zero impact in the W/L column. The team sucks. So much for the impactz position. 2 1 1
Popular Post pointman
Mekhi does two things really well. He is willing to let an end/lb make a swim move and rush to his outside while he maintains his technique, hands up, butt down, and side steps to wherever the defender is looking to go.. always maintaining himself between the defender and the QB. He then doesn't do what many OL do, which is he doesn't force the engagement. He waits until the defender is making his move towards Sam, and he engages them with his hands and uses their weight against them and leverages them to the outside. That is amazing technique. Secondly, in run blocking he engages his assignment, which is usually the guy stacked strong, and then pushes to the second level to a backer. Color me impressed. 6

A trade Macc would have never been able to pull off in a million years (he would have handed Adams $100M over 5 years, with $45M guaranteed) and a decision the Seattle Seahawks will massively regret in less than a year. Put me on ignore if you can't handle the truth bombs I'm throwing.

If Becton is already very good and becomes an elite LT that is way more than a positive step, it is several. Actually, know that I am over the game finally, there are still some positives I see from this last game. Kyle Phillips continues to be excellent and Quinnen (who I have bashed) seems to be developing. Berrios seems to have some potential in the slot. Thing for Gase to try this week...run off tackle to the left, not up the middle.
