Trevor Lawrence will start week 1 wherever he goes including to Jets. If we get the top pick, JD starts calling to shop Darnold the instant league rules allow.

Theoretically you have to pick Trevor and then pick up the 5th year option on Sam and let them compete and trade the loser

For $25M?  Hell no.  You don't pay Darnold like he's the guy if you don't think he's the guy.  Even for just 1 season.

Yeah I’m just saying the only way you’re getting a #1 at this point is if Sam plays his socks off and becomes such a completely different player the next 14 games that it would be tempting.

You run up to the podium with the Trevor Lawrence selection in hand. This is the easiest decision in the world. 

Darnold will have driven the team to the #1 overall pick and is heading into his fourth year and due an extension. The GM didn't draft him, and presumably the coach is fired and the team is bringing in a new coach to pair with the QB like the Cardinals did with Kliff and Murray.

There's no way Darnold fetches back a first round pick at this point, let alone 14 games from now. Trade him for a bag of chips and start Lawrence Day 1.

Query: would Darnold’s value be higher, lower, or the same if you trade him after training camp right before the season starts rather than immediately after the draft?
