Radio as we knew it is dead.

You can't offend anyone, there are very little radio wars anymore. Mike vs Dog, Imus vs Stern, Stern vs everybody.

Everyone that comes out now is just bland and pretty much boring.

Even podcasting is dying.  Joe Rogan jumped the shark.  Joey Diaz cancelled his own podcast.

yeah... i like Evan...can't stand Joe he's the same comment everytime for Mets/Jets/Knicks... I loved boomer and carton. I liked carton from 101.5 days much better than the ring wing shills they have on now

Carton is the reason I stopped listening to WFAN years ago.  Everyone once in a while I'll put it on in the car now but quite rarely.
Nothing personally against the guy but radio schtick is incredibly annoying.

WFAN has gradually declined over the years - most likely due to their cheap budget.  I long for the days of Howie Rose and Bob Wischusen - they were great, even Ian Eagle wasn't bad.  JJ used to be OK but his head has grown too big and he's just annoying now.  Francesa is an obnoxious jerk, but at least he was somewhat entertaining.   Now the only hosts I can tolerate are Chris Moore, occasionally Sal Licotta and occasionally Richard Neer provides logical insight.  I would prefer Jerry Recco over Boomer and Gio every day of the week.  Bart Scott made Maggie and Carlin tolerable. Maggie and Moose is a disaster.  Evan is another one whose head got too big and he is just flat out annoying now.  Beningo was a novelty, his time has been up for many years now.  Is it that hard to find people with great communication skills and a broad knowledge of sports?

I'd try a Jerry Recco/Chris Simms duo.  Sanchez is not there.  Carton should change his image and would be better served trying try for a WOR or WABC gig, where he discusses politics, pop culture and some sports with a comedic twist (a poverty stricken man's version of Howard Stern).  He is and never was a true sports guy.

Sports radio as a format is done.  It's been replaced by Twitter, postgame shows, and forums like this.  The 'hot takes' we all used to depend on hearing are now made and consumed at the social media level, not by radio personalities 24 hours after the fact.

I still find some of the content on NFL Radio (on Sirius) good listening.  Ross Tucker is one.  Kirwan and Miller are okay.  I like Marvez but only when Brandt isn't on prattling off his facts that are clearly coming off of cue cards.  Brandt is one of those guys who have seen a lot and used to be interesting but now it's getting sad.  And his voice just grates on me.  But overall, it's the best listen for sports radio.

One possible exception, Barstool has a shot to be good.  They don't have the restrictions of other stations but they need to figure out their balance of real content and reality content.  It goes off the rails a lot, but there are moments I could see it getting somewhere fresh and interesting.

Ethically how do you put on a convicted  crook and degenerate gambler who went to jail for scamming people to gamble even more to do live reads  for gambling websites 3-5 times every hour? Doesn't sound like Carton understands his problems, and CBS radio and FAN are so desperate for ratings they don't care. Is that healthy for a guy like Carton?

I love Kay as a Yankee broadcaster but never warmed up to him as a radio personality.  Haven't heard Keyshawn, didn't even know he was on local air.....I'll give that a try.

Keyshawn has put his jet hatred behind him.  He’s also more humble now then when he played.  He’s been good on the radio definitely way better than Boomer and wannabe Richard Jeni Gio

The traditional radio format is done.  Everyone listens to podcasts now.  I never liked Carton, I prefer serious sports.

For me, the hosts I can listen to are Benigno, Chris Moore, Richard Neer and there's a guy on Saturdays ("JR Sport Brief").  And Steve Somers too, if you're in the mood for his "shtick".
