We can work with Sam

Recommended Posts

If they get the number one pick then take Trevor Lawrence (I don’t know enough about Justin fields right now).

Objective Statistics render they probably will not.  Almost every game Sam has a magic moment, 3/4 of his top receivers aren’t available, Perriman, Mims, Vyncent.  His ascending tight end is a mental case. Five new starters on the offense of line from a year ago. Still younger than Joe Burrow. Thank god his shoulder is intact so we can see more.

He’ll never be Peyton Manning but you stick him on Kansas City and he is a 12 win quarterback.

Draft Jamar Chase.

Every night my cat has a magical moment of incredible athleticism. Right before he barfs on the carpet and tracks crap out of the litter box.

He literally sacked himself.

What are people even talking about at this point?

I can only assume they'd rather join nico in Siberia than admit they were wrong about him. This is Geno all over again times 100.

It's not just working with him, it's the sunk opportunity cost of not starting the timeline with a new QB on his rookie contract.

He would be going into year 4 with his 3rd regime and his play had never surpassed mediocre. Not too many examples of a player turning things around at that point. Are we going to pay him 30 million in year 5 for what hes shown us? Are you going to gamble an extension for him with what you've seen?

You have to factor in bringing in a new coach, is he going to want to work with damaged goods or the hottest prospect to come into the NFL in years?

The answer to all these is a resounding no, his only chance at a rebound is on another team.

On KC he is an 8 win qb.  He loses to many games by himself, and doesn’t have nearly enough ‘let me carry you scrubs’ moments like Mahomes.

i think he could become a 10-11 win qb, but it’s going backwards atm.

He could win 11 but on KC he wins 8??  Never post again.

This hypothetical better scenarios are still just that. The reality is he's just never produced consistently and seems to be going backwards rather than forward. He looks absolutely traumatised in the pocket. Persisting with him is probably bad for everyone. Sam too.

I think he looked good in the pocket tonight. No picks, lots of pressure. 3rd string offensive tackles. Greg Van Roten.

Many have tried to explain such concepts as sunken cost and opportunity cost. You'll just be called a "HATR F8K FAN."

Applaud the effort, though.

I think we can definitely work with him. He has plenty of physical talent to play the position at a high level and I do think he could develop into a good NFL QB in the right situation. The question is whether we should work with him past this year.

To me, that depends entirely on where we draft and who is available.

If we have an opportunity to draft Lawrence, we are taking him. But there is a lot of gray area after that. I'd like to see what our record is and how Darnold plays with Mims and a healthy Becton back on the field, but my best guess is that Darnold won't be here next year.
