Bronx
I want to cheat on the Jets Plenty reasons to do it, but I can't. It is like a toxic relationship that is inescapable. It feels like being mentally abused and physically for others like @Joewillie12 perhaps. The real question is, should we allow our children and future generations to endure the masochistic behavior displayed by their ancestors? While traditions are important, it would be selfish to enforce it. Let our future generations enjoy the beauty of the sport and encourage them to root for a real football team. Isn't 50 years enduring this pain and suffering for some of us enough? Our children deserve better!

jgb
My kids are eagles fans. I didn’t try to stop them. Have a feeling there are a lot of last generation Jets fans on here. 2

Adoni Beast
I have two sons, 8 & 2. Have told the 8 year old the truth since he could process the information. Don’t root for them because of me. They’re not just going through a bad phase. They’re a joke. He loves watching football (doesn’t really have a favorite team) and the 4 major sports. But I gave him the “Mickey Mantle won’t ever pay your rent...” speech early on in life and it stuck with him. Loves watching, but never gets emotionally invested. This is just one way out of a million he’s better than his old man.
TokyoJetsFan
I named my son Jett. Yeah...let that sink in. I have a hard time forgiving myself for doing this to the kid. He seems to have taken this extreme form of child abuse pretty well though so I'm proud of him. 1 1

It does make it a bit more tougher.
Stark
When my boys were born I told all family that I don’t want anyone buying them any professional sports gear. I will let them chose their teams when that time comes. I will not try to influence them to follow the JETS. I hope they make a wiser decision than I. also.....
