Early 2021 Dream Mock

If the Jets go QB with their first pick you kinda have to draft mostly all offense the rest of the way.   This is a very early version of that.  I took Cunningham later in the draft as a back up who will be able to run a similar version of the offense as Fields should he get injured.

I agree it's got to be mostly offense the rest of the way if they start with a quarterback.

The offensive line is the most interesting part for me. I think it needs to be rebuilt, but I also genuinely believe that the rebuild will be slow. Guys are mostly affordable and there are some outs, but Douglas has the current starting OL under contract for two full seasons following this one and I don't expect he is going to be in a rush to completely retool it. Obviously Clark's ability to take over one of the guard spots is a factor as well.

I think the easiest sell is drafting a center and kicking McGovern to guard or just drafting a guard. Personally I would love to see the Jets get bigger and more physical on the offensive line as they move away from Gase. You hope the young quarterback gives a degree of identity of course, but right now I think the building block on the offense is Becton. I'd love to see a big, physical, nasty guard added and eventually move the whole line in that direction stylistically. Think there are a couple fits this draft.

Agreed.  That’s why I like Trey Smith.  He’s massive, makes the left side of that line really good.

Agree, Smith would be a great pick. I’d frankly be happy to see more offensive linemen drafted though I expect it’s one, maybe two early and then one or two day three in an effort to build depth. Exception is if the team manages to win a few games and drafts Sewell. Becton, Sewell, and Smith would be insane.

Also realize it’s a completely different direction but Alec Lindstrom out of BC, on paper, is going to be a solid center for like ten years available on day two. Dad played in the NFL, brother a first round pick a couple years ago, BC linemen are pretty much always solid. He’s not a big dude but if he’s there in the third...give him a little time to add some weight and McGovern can always kick to guard, he’s frankly probably better there.

I like Patrick Jones. Everyone wants to talk about Rousseau, but there are a couple of sneaky edge prospects I like in the draft.

Lidstrom is good but I think he stays in school.  The guy to watch from BC is Zion Johnson, he was a transfer last year who excelled at LG but they moved him to LT this year, which is kind of a head scratcher.   For the pros though he is absolutely a guard and will be available in the 2/3rd round range. Big guy who is athletic and could git right in at G.
