You don't want to see how our skill players looks with a vet quarterback who doesn't miss the open man while making his reads? It's a good way to evaluate the skill players and even Adam Gase's play calling. Only reason Darnold gets the starts playing like he has is due to the investment the Jets made in him. Darnold needs to sit, breathe, and see how it's done by a grizzled vet like Flacco.

If they thought he was good enough to come back Thursday night and play why is he not able to play after 10 days off? 
By not playing him this Sunday they are admitting they screwed up by bringing him back into the Denver game. 

Either way, this Mehta story feels like BS. He doesn't say Darnold is out Sunday, just that there is sentiment in the organization that he shouldn't play. Do we really think Gase/Douglas are feeding Mehta inside info? After the Jets fought to rip Mehta of his credentials, who do you think in the organization is giving him reliable info? Gregg Williams? 

I am going to wait until a real reporter backs up this story with actual inside sources.

Finally getting healthier and now Sam is out. This team is a joke.  The only thing we need to do the rest of the season is keep evaluating Sam to see what we need to do in the case of getting the 1st overall pick.

The sign of a broken franchise is when the fans either don't care who wins or actually root for a loss to get a better draft position.  This is what Chris Johnson has accomplished.  Even Woody was unable to sink this low.  I hope Sam doesn't play.  Gase is capable of putting the kid in and getting him hurt in a desperate attempt to save Gase's career.  This is why Gase should be fired now.  He can do some serious damage because he is indifferent to the future of this team.

When was the last time Flacco was able to avoid a rush and build up enough speed to make it out of bounds before being slammed to the ground? 

He's a statue in the box and will get absolutely killed if Becton is out again.

Mehta has less knowledge if Darnold is going to play on Sunday then anyone on the board.  NO ONE in Jets land is giving him the time of day.

He's just doing what he always did.  Make things up.  In this case the odds are in his favor of being true.

Its really hard to continue to care about this team.  The passion has been gone for a while but it's almost at the point of not even watching this team anymore.

As so often happens with the Jets, now that the starter is out, I'd personally prefer to see the young player (Morgan), not the end-of-the-line-old Veteran (Flacco).  Potential Future (small tho that potential may be) Morgan vs. No Future Whatsoever Flacco.

With that said, if Flacco plays, and produces materially more/better than Sam was producing with similar supporting talent, that would be a massive indictment of Sam Darnold, and likely ensure the end of his time here.

So I guess there IS reason to watch, fatalistic tho that reason may be.

If Becton is not playing then I agree. Chandler will have 3 sacks and Flacco will be knocked out of the game by 3rd quarter.  Mike white will finish the game.

If Flacco makes the right reads and hits the open receiver he would already be doing much better than Darnold has. Darnold has really struggled with both of those things this year. Talent or no talent, when the WRs are open he's been missing them often.

This is assuming that he has the same processing speed and coverage recognition skills as Darnold. Which he doesn't, Flacco processes defenses and makes better decisions quicker than Darnold. That's what experience gives you. So some of those getting flushed out of the pockets moments will be avoided by faster decision making and recognizing coverages quicker.

Why not just roll with Flacco and Captain Morgan? Leave White on the practice squad as our emergency quarterback.

The real issue is going to be if Flacco lights it up and then they go back to Darnold who then proceeds to not play well again.  That's when the controversy will be ramped up. Flacco can play great this week and it's still Darnolds job.  But then there are no more excuses for Darnold when he gets back.
