Man hamstrings can be a B but Mims hopefully can be back sometime before November. I did not anticipate this update.  He needs reps this year for a myriad of reasons.

it had to be more than just a slight pull at this point.  He must have had a very high 2nd degree or low end 3rd degree strain.  there had to be at least some tearing of the fibers to be this bad and this long.

Mims is watching the sh*t show, he’s going to drag this out and request a trade to Carolina at the end of the season

Good. I want us get curb stomped the rest of the season into drafting Lawrence.

Does Lawrence make us a contender?

We need a serious retool across the board, not just throw in another QB to sink or swim (most likely sink).

Of course we need a retool across the board, but we can't pass up a prospect of Lawrence's caliber.

Of course not, but Lawrence on a 5 year rookie deal is so obvious, that not even the people running this organization would pass it up. (I think)

With Becton/Mims/Perriman out, I am actually happy Darnold isn't playing this week. Let them all come back together and give them 8-9-10 games to figure it out. I rather have them healthy for 8 games to evaluate then watch them struggle and fall back on the injury excuse.

I’d rather they figure it out next year with a new HC. Rest up boys.

What about trading for a haul of first & second round picks to actually build around a QB? If we pick another QB what else will we have done to surround him with talent? Signing a few FA castoffs isn't going to make Lawrence's chances of succeeding any better than Sam's, and at the end of his rookie deal we'll all be lamenting how we ruined yet another QB.

Your point is well taken.

But, keep in mind that we have some very good draft capital over the next two years (including multiple first round picks) and have a ton of cap space next year.

The other big thing is having Lawrence in year 1 of his 5 year rookie deal vs. having Darnold in year 4 of his 5 year rookie deal. If we keep Darnold, we are going to need to see production right away (i.e. Trubisky this year). With Lawrence, we have 2-3 years to build something.

Also, regardless of what any of us think about any of these guys, it doesn't sound like any NFL team is passing on Lawrence. The hype is off the charts.

Serious question, has Mims practiced even once with the Jets? Didn’t he miss all of training camp?

Yes, he did but it was short lived.  I dont even know what his injury is...hamstring still or is it something else?

I get where you're coming from - it just feels so eerily reminiscent of so many other periods in recent Jet history. Need QB, eventually get QB, fail to build team around QB, discard QB.

And if the hype is as good as you say - the price goes up as hopefully we'll have more than one interested team vying for the chance to draft him.

Probably all a pipe dream anyway, either way ... you just know the Jets will Jets it up somehow. Or Covid will Jets it up for us.

I don't disagree.

I also admit that I would be afraid of all the insane expectations/hype that Lawrence would have here. I would not envy a 21 year old who is expected to turn this sh*t show around.
