New York Jets President Hymie Elhai?

Anyone have any insight what his role is and how integrated he is in the decision making regarding the team, personnel, scouts, budgets etc? Figuring out how the Jets are actually structured is impossible and it seems like there's no one actually responsible for anything, but this tidbit was interesting from the Jets website (Keep in mind he is higher on the org chart than Douglas/Gase with his title):

To that end, a key element of Elhai's role is working closely with General Manager Joe Douglas and Head Coach Adam Gase to integrate football and business operations, providing support and guidance to help both navigate their responsibilities. The relationship between the three form the foundation of Johnson's vision for a unified franchise, one positioning itself for long term success.

Idk but when Neil Glat stepped down it was mentioned that Glat often meddled in the football ops. This change might be where the Jets can create a new culture. If  Elhai is hands off in terms of impact but hands on in terms of resource allocation then its improvement.

He was an internal hire so doubtful.

Jets name new team president, as they replace Neil Glat: Who is Hymie Elhai?

The Jets have a new team president — Hymie Elhai.

The organization announced his promotion Tuesday. Neil Glat recently resigned as the Jets’ president.

The role has typically involved little to no say over football operations. It is an important position, to be sure, but it primarily involves the business side of the Jets.

Elhai, though, has been an influential figure with the Jets for years. Most recently, he assisted acting owner Christopher Johnson with the hiring of head coach Adam Gase, this past offseason. Elhai was directly involved in the Jets’ head coaching search, as they replaced Todd Bowles. Johnson also hired a new general manager this offseason, Joe Douglas.

Elhai had been the Jets’ senior vice president/general counsel. He is entering his 20th season with the Jets. The Jets on Tuesday also promoted Brian Friedman from senior vice president/chief financial officer to executive vice president/chief operation officer.

Glat announced Friday he was transitioning into a senior advisor role.

In the Jets’ announcement about Elhai’s promotion, they noted he will work with Gase and Douglas “to integrate football and business operations,” in addition to overseeing all of the Jets’ business operations.

Elhai started with the Jets as an intern. He was hired full time in 2002, as manager of legal affairs and business development. He recently completed his fifth season as senior vice president for business affairs/general counsel.

In his previous role, Elhai was responsible for “all legal aspects of the team, including sponsorship, licensing, events, digital media, production and broadcasting agreements, and all employment related matters,” according to the Jets.

In recent seasons, according to the Jets, he also “provided counsel and guidance to football administration on all planning initiatives.”

Johnson’s older brother — Woody Johnson, the current United States ambassador to the United Kingdom — bought the Jets in 2000. So Elhai has a long-standing relationship with the Johnsons.

Anything has got to be better than Neil Glatt. The guy was nothing but window dressing and technically was in charge of marketing and shilling tickets. Fck outta here with that, how is that in any way related to "Team Operations". He was a glorified Nick and Tyler Jets FO rep in ticket sales with a different name tag.

It would behoove The Brothers Idiot to adopt a hands off approach of their own. I have no idea why someone who could maybe remove a superficial splinter with a tweezer in good lighting by one of the huge, sunny windows at 1 Jets Drive thinks that somehow qualifies them as a general surgeon.

Biggest problem with the Jets. Their organization is lean in comparison to others, and more marketing heavy rather than football ops heavy.

Been saying it for years, they need someone that oversees the operations of on-field personnel and activities, and bolster that area underneath that title. They did a better job in bolstering some of the scouting underneath Douglas, but there has to be the capstone position.

Johnson's want to run it like a mom and pop store.

Needs to be a moat dug between the football and the business side.

I think the fanbase should at least be aware he exists and probably has a lot more influence than anyone realizes. The Jets website says he’s involved, but we’ve never heard from him.

They should have just ponied up the $2 million per for Daniel Jeremiah to come in and be the forward face of the organization

Single as can be: not married, not in a relationship,  not currently dating, no friends with benefits.

Only the Jets would have the Team President's Curriculum Vitae read like a loser personal ad. The only thing missing is masturbates morosely on Valentine's Day.

Neil didn't step down. I know that is what they said happened, but it wasn't.

Adam Gase is his friend but there are definitely no benefits there.
