The NFL draft has historically been my favorite event in sports because it is a time I have hope that the Jets can be better.

I honestly don’t even think I could get excited for next year’s draft, with two first round picks no less, if Gase is still the coach.

Even if Gase was decent he would still be fired for this very reason. Need to sell seats next year.

I do think talent is a legitimate problem and injuries are a factor, but play calling has been ultra conservative to the point of being self-defeating and the team is horrifically undisciplined. There is nothing fun about watching them and those are issues that fall at the head coach’s feet.

I’d also add that the lack of using motion and situational play calling have been very effectively pointed out as big issues by others. A lot of Darnold’s issues are his own, but Gase certainly doesn’t coach to his strengths. Guys like Herndon have regressed dramatically. His use of running backs in the passing game is archaic. And when they’ve brought in one of his guys like Ballage it hasn’t worked out well.

Definitely don’t want him back next year, on the fence about him completing this year. Really no upside of firing him before the season ends or the last couple weeks at least. We don’t have any internal candidates that could WOW the front office into keeping and with the team talent in shambles a new voice is not gonna make any difference in evaluating young talent. Not to mention for the first time ever in my jet rooting life I don’t want to see them win, we don’t need any moral victories for G Williams if he’s appointed interim HC of the NYJ

After his 6-2 finish he deserved a second season but he has flopped on his face beyond imagination in year 2. There’s nothing left for him here and he should be gone yesterday. Every day he’s here things get worse

The 6-2 finish was us facing a soft schedule.  Gase cannot handle adversity
