Ian Fleming
The OP reminds me of Leo Amery MP telling PM Chamberlain to resign after the defeat of the British in Norway in 1940: Quote “This is what Cromwell said to the Long Parliament when he thought it was no longer fit to conduct the affairs of the nation: "You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go".

What made guys like Tomlin and Harbaugh good coaches is that they were handed playoff rosters and nurtured and given time to develop by organizations that don't have knee-jerk fanbases and sensitive owners who have a constant revolving door of GM's. Both of those coaches would have been swallowed whole by the NY media and NY fanbase and the NJY dysfunction machine. We have to fix our methodology. We need to retain head coaches through these tough rebuilding times and let them develop. You want a Steeler or Raven caliber head coach? You need to act like the Steelers and Ravens. bitonti
The fault is the owners this is trueIt's also a league that allows incompetence without any consequencesIf there were relegation, the Johnsons would care.Instead they laugh all the way to the bank Exactly. It's not Gase's job to quit. It's the Owners job to fire him. This is entirely on our Owners. They are choosing to carry on with abject failure and a complete lack of competitive product. If it were any business OTHER than sports, they'd be headed for bankruptcy. We fools make sure they're not.Sent from my Pixel 2 using JetNation.com mobile app

The real villains are the two GM's who rode us into the ground the past 10 years. The fans are a problem because they speak out of both ends of their mouths. They say they want it done the 'right' way, they say they want to build from the lines out, they say they want to draft a young core, they say they want a Joe Douglas type but it turns out they don't want that. They want an immediate turnaround. They want a Tannenbaum type to spend every dollar so we can have 1 fun 9-7 season and then go back into the abyss. Over and over again. Step 1 was getting a good GM in here. Step 2 was the fans showing patience while he and his HC turn this thing around. It doesn't happen in 1 draft and 1 season. Bill Belichick turned out okay. Pete Carroll turned out okay. Anthony Lynn looks solid. As sure as I'm standing here, Todd Bowles and Brian Schottenheimer are going to be NFL head coaches. If the Jets weren't a dysfunctional team and a revolving door Siberia for coaching careers, Belichick would have won Super Bowls for us. Pete Carroll would still be on our sidelines. If the Steelers acted like the Jets did, Mike Tomlin would have been fired after 3 years with fans harrassing his wife while she shopped at Target. Just, call a presser and make the announcement. Nobody wants you. Nobody likes you. You are hated here in NY even more than you were despised in Miami. Get out now. Move your family to a friendlier place. Maybe Peyton Manning has an extra room for you. Oh wait... I forgot... you are "as rich as f--K" (your own words.) Agree with the sentiment completely. Would just like to add. This is not personal. This is based strictly on his poor job performance. He may be a decent fellow that is simply not performing well. I dont know about the person, Adam Gase, but I as a fan, I dont like the job he is doing...
