Jets trying to trade Leveon Bell

remember gase said he doesn't know how to use Bell.  Bell is not  a rookie, there's tape on how to use him.  what makes you think he can use any player on the roster.

Gase sucks but so does our entire roster. This isnt just about poor coaching. We literally might have the least talented roster of all time.

Trade everyone!!!

Start over with Dabo, Sunshine and Eitinen.

Makes sense at this point. Only ones worth keeping are the 2020 draft class just because we haven’t seen them yet. Top priority is to sink this team to make sure we get the #1 pick. Trade, trade, trade, get picks, picks, picks. Get Trevor and rebuild the OL. Becton is our only solid OL. JD has done a half azz job with the OL. With a solid OL, it dramatically changes your whole team and opens up your offense. We got stupid cash and picks for next year. Get a new HC and next year this team can make significant progress in the right direction.

I keep reading that but its hogwash.  Rex did more with less.

Yet another beneficiary of the old Maccagnan cash dispensing machine.  Shocking how many bad decisions he made.

Macc was never 0-5 and the laughingstock of all professional sports.  I know its easy to keep blaming him but its beginning to sound more silly by the day.

I don't know guys, this might mean that Perrine would be forced to actually . . . play. Giving a rookie RB carries is the LAST thing we want - we don't want to stunt his development!!!!!

Totally.  I said earlier that giving the rook carries might cause him excessive hand chaffing.  But what about the pressure associated with being the featured RB?   You know that will cause a fragile young man to experience frightening, possibly psychologically catastrophic, nightmares and other terrors.  I, for one, would not want that responsibility.

Gee what a shocker. Offensive genius can’t figure out how to use him, so ship him out. Brilliant.

This is really what comes down to with Adam Gase.

Not only does he refuse to adjust his offense to what the opposing defense is doing, he also refuses to adjust his own friggin offense to utilize its most talented players.

It's really quite remarkable. He's twice as stupid as you already think he is!

I know how frustrating it is for me to see Frank Gore stealing Bell's touches. I can only imagine how Bell feels.

I think the Jets would have to take an $4 million cap hit (Bell's remaining pro-rated bonus) and would have a cap savings of the the remaining salary for this year. Bell has a $13 million salary for 2020. So, if you pro-rate it, that would be $8.9 million for the final 11 games. The difference between the accelerated $4 million cap hit for the pro-rated bonus and cap savings on salary if he's traded is a net $4.9 million savings to the Jets, isn't it?

And at an $8.9 million cost to other teams, Bell can fit under the cap for the Browns, Steelers, Eagles, Colts, Ravens and Cardinals.

to a certain extent I would agree, but good coaching would help a poorly talented roster be competitive and steal some wins.

Bell has gotten plenty of opportunities. He’s run into a brick wall on almost every carry, but he also hasn't made anyone miss. Got lots of targets in the passing game last season and failed to break anything as well.

He’s been a good teammate for sure, it just wasn’t meant to be with him and the Jets.

All that said, this report is probably false.

That's because Macc handed out free money in FA and never had to actually rely on his draft picks being the main players for the team. The guy spent 5 years drafting with less than 5 real NFL players to show for it.

Reportedly lost his credentials and still getting scoops that other guys aren't.  How does he do it, and how hilarious is it?

Manish reported it:

And 45 minutes later, Cimini confirms it:

I cherrypicked this part of your post because it to me is a holy crap moment.  So, Gase IS making in game adjustments after all.  And THIS is his product.  Yeah, genius, right.

Bell is the team's 2nd best active WR in addition to being its best RB.  Arizona's defense must be waaaay better than I thought they were to eliminate Bell from the game plan entirely.

It only sounds silly to you, who happens to have some weird perverse love affair with the worst GM this franchise has ever seen.

Except I dont.  No problem with him being fired and I still have faith in Douglas but the early returns are horrible.

Gase on the other hand is a Greek tragedy..  I didn't think it was possible to make me miss Bowles..  BOWLES!

Maybe Bell talks to him? Who knows......and who cares.

So you think the Jets contacted Bell to let him know they were going to start shopping him?  And why would Bell go to Manish out of all the writers on the beat?

It doesn’t matter who the coach was. Bell was never going to be here more than 2 years. The contract was structured by that way for a reason. It’s clearly not working out (yes, Gase is to blame). Trading him is for the best.

Speaking of two years, in two years Bell will be out of the NFL.  He's done.

Weasels always seem to find their way in

Isn't it crazy though?  When I heard the rumors about him losing his credentials I was like, "Welp, that's the last scoop he'll ever get".  Then on cut down day he had like 80% of the cuts before anyone else.  So I figured maybe he took a few shots in the dark and guessed on some obvious guys.

Now this?  Biggest trade rumor of the year and he beats every other writer covering the team?

It's hilarious.

I agree.  He might go somewhere with a great O-Line and chase a ring, but I don’t think he’ll be around much longer.  He got his bag, and that’s all he ever wanted.
