I think CJ and douglas are in on the tank together and gase is the HC of the NYJ who actually knows he’s being hung out to dry.  I also wouldn’t be surprised if the johnsons are secretly planning on selling the team after the season and having the #1 pick and being able to draft Lawrence would raise the price if not the appeal.

Despite being awful...the Johnson's rake in the profit year after year.  They don't seem to be the type to give up on that cash flow year after year.

9. New York Jets

  • Revenue: $443 million

  • Operating Income: $130 million

The Jets haven’t been to the playoffs since 2010 and haven’t won their division since 2002. Last year was par for the course. That other New York team finished the regular season with a decidedly sad 4-12 record that landed them at the bottom of the AFC East for the fourth time in five years.

Poor TL is looking for a way to get out of this mess he is going to pull an Eli for sure. This team is by far the worst in all of sports and i have been a fan of alot of them but the Jets make me want to slip slowly into madness.

If you’re TL you’re probably thinking ‘I’m going to wind up in NY’.

It's an interesting year for them to absolutely be bottoming out, because it's not like fans can express their distaste for things in person without attendance at games this year. I do think that things have gotten bad enough that they'll start to hit the bottom line which is pretty mind boggling when you think of how bad this franchise has been for so long. Hopefully they recognize that early enough to give the coaching search the attention it deserves.

People are lousy at figuring odds today. This can't be anywhere near right.

It can be since those other teams have games on there schedule you look at and say the way they are playing they could win. Jets easiest game on the schedule is the Chargers and all others are harder than that like Fins, Browns, and then Super teams the rest of the way KC, Seahawks, Rams, Bills, etc. Even as a fluke it will be really difficult with the way the Jets are playing to win any of these games.  So, as one poster here stated that we may lose draft tiebreakers with our best SOS, but that SOS is what will allow Jets to remain ahead of the other teams no matter what players come back from IR since none are super stars that we know of like Perrimen, Smit, Mims, etc. at WR, Zuniga at edge, Cashman at ILB. I'll personally be shocked if any or all of them come back and start making this team play a whole lot better.

It can't. The other projection that was posted was 27%. One of these numbers is in the realm of the plausible and one of them isn't. As a matter of scale, 42% to pick first after only five weeks is not a number that comes from the teams with the worst records having different schedules. It comes, if at all, from one of them being clearly the worst team of all time. Or it's just made up.

As doom and gloom as it seems, I think as soon as they get rid of Gase, this is an attractive job for a coach.

first overall pick (potentially) and a boatload of other picks.

tons of cap space for a pretty good FA class

a gm that understands how it works.

A GM that just threw the guy who got him the job under the bus??

Not sure why that's a draw in this scenario.

No matter what, Lawrence would be going to a sh!t situation.

giants have been literally the worst team in football the last few years

the Jaguars have usually been terrible, could potentially move to London.

the falcons choked the super bowl and have been terrible since.

the fact is, when you’re going to be the 1st pick overall, you’re going to a bad team.

There's a difference between a bad team and a bad organization. Jets are a bad organization.

Adam Gase has done a good enough job throwing himself under the bus.  Also, I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

If JD is indeed tanking on purpose, as suggested, and Gase - the guy who recommended / supported JD for the job - gets fired as a result, it doesn't paint JD in a good light as a guy you want to work with.

A Joe Flacco and Frank Gore lead jets with Gase at the helm will win two games late vs teams resting their starters and pooch the #1 pick.

this is the jets we are talking about here.

Hopefully the schedule doesnt change due to COVID but Cleveland is in the best division in football and will likely still need to compete week 16. Week 17 is scary with New England, but at 2-2 they will probably also be chasing the AFC North teams for the WC spot or division.

Realistically between only 4 teams.

Jets FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 42.2%

Giants FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 25.1%

Jaguars FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 11.6%

Falcons FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 6.7%

The Giants play in the NFC East.  They're going to win some games.  I think the Jags are at least a 4 win team (or more) based on how they've competed so far.   The Falcons seem to have major issues, though, and potentially could be a problem for us.  They seem like a broken franchise.  I don't think they've ever recovered from that Superbowl loss.  I've said this before but, as much as I'd like to see the Jets play in a Superbowl, I'd prefer to have not made the Superbowl then lose the way they did.  They might be the one franchise that's in worse shape than we are (though I still think they'll probably win a few games anyway).
