This infuriates me that a coach is allowed to get away with such incompetence and runs an NFL team each and every Sunday!! My god when is CJ going to get his head out of his ass and wake the **** up!!

I'm not a big Gase guy (in fact hes terrible) but 360 pound linemen are supposed to play through shoulders

even if they are precious rookies

the fanbase has it in our head that 2020 is a waste year but we can't simulate to 2021  

Becton needs to play to get better and an NFL HC's job is to get him and the rest of the damned ready to play on Sunday 

 

I remember people made the same complaint when Bowles let Spencer Long snap with a broken thumb. This is what NFL HC's are trained to do, turn their eyes away and shove more meat into the grinder

if an offensive lineman says "Coach I can play" it's that coach's job to let him play. Period. that's life on the line 

the fact Becton is one of the team's only decent young players make it hurt a little more but this how the sausage is made

They need to play to get better.  How much did he play last week?  How much is he going to play this week?  Having him play a few snaps that he shouldn't have been playing will be a net loss.  If the guy isn't healthy enough to start, he's not healthy enough to play.

On the flip side, Chuma Edoga has looked pretty decent, I wonder if there is any thought behind transitioning him to RT for next year regardless, solid depth guy to have on the o-line getting some snaps.

Edoga has been a mixed bag.  He has looked very good at times, but had several reps where he was spun around or easily thrown to the turf.  I'd move him to RG at this point.

Doesn't matter.  The kid is being paid a lot of money to play in pain, that's what they're supposed to do.  They work hard and sacrifice their bodies for 8 years and then they never need to work another day in their lives.  It's a fair deal. 

Either way, it's not Gase's fault.  You've got the trainers, then the position coaches, then the coordinator.  They all come to a consensus and then they send the player back out.  Gase is busy coaching the team and calling the plays.

So, the week leading up to the Broncos game, Becton was "limited" in practice. But he did practice and get reps.

This would seem to be that he is hurt, rather than injured. Or, the medical staff at least cleared him to play with the thoughts he could not do any more damage.

If more damage was done, that to me would seem to be a medical staff issue.

It's the most unforgivable thing he's done to date and yes I think far more should have been of it. Douglas should have a lot to answer for this as well, f*ck even Chris Johnson. The only asset, literally the only f*cking guy on this team worth protecting and they activate him knowing he's hurt. Self destructive negligence that anyone could have seen coming and that in fact many did see it coming.

Oh, well there you have it!  Gase is actually good and the Jets are fine.  Thanks Tom!  I feel so much better about the Jets situation now.

The whole he’s not healthy enough to start but he’s healthy enough to come off the bench thing is one of the most monstrously stupid things I’ve ever seen a Jets coach do, which is obviously saying something. Gase should have been fired at halftime of that game.

Good point. 

It just goes to show you that when you have a 139-84 record (and a Super Bowl ring) as the HC of a franchise that was in the wilderness before you arrived, you can pretty much do whatever the f*ck you want. Imagine if Bountygate happened under Gase's watch (with Mr. Williams being the actual ring leader) - think he would have kept his job? 

When you are 30-39 with 31 double digit losses (this is an incredible stat), you tend to get blamed for anything that goes wrong. 

As my wife likes to say, it sucks to suck.
