There are currently 6 players who had been on Injured Reserve now designated for return in the next 14-21 days

Which of the 6 do you expect to meaningfully contribute over the remainder of the season.

Please Note: This is an official Crybaby Free Thread (CFT), so please only reply if you can make an intelligent, non-redundant, non-whiney thought.  Thank you and God Bless

Mims.

There will be pressure to get him involved and we're so devoid of talent there. If Darnold is to salvage his Jets career it's going to be because they establish a connection and go off. More likely he does a hamstring as soon as Sam returns though.

I don't know about pressure, but I do know he is sliding into Jeff Smith's spot in the offense and in the past two games Jeff Smith had 20 targets with 10 catches. But, then again, maybe Gase liked calling Jeff Smith's number because he is a nobody and Mims is too big a name for the resentful Gase to call his number. After all, Gase chafes at the idea of players getting too much credit for the performance of his high flying offense.

I went with the WR's, Clark, and Zuniga.

Both the WR's give a degree of speed that helps spread the field. We see the way Smith is able to get loose just because he's fast. I think those guys help create space for Crowder, opportunities for deep shots, and potentially open up the running game. The results may not be pretty but I still think it gives opportunities for less boring, hyper conservative, defeatist playcalling in the passing game.

Clark is a versatile lineman and bodies are definitely needed up front.

Zuniga's issue has been availability, not ability. I expect him to flash some talent and then get hurt again.

We have no idea whether the Jets will be able to stay healthy, but there's no doubt some of these players are going to make an impact on game days, just as Jeff Smith had against Denver. I do think Mims will provide some sort of impact, even if its as little as being a deep threat akin to how Vyncint Smith was in 2019. I do think Smith, Cashman (day 1 starter), Zuniga, and Maulet will make contributions as well.

However, I don't think we'll notice major changes in result until the play-calling changes.

I can't even to begin to describe how horrifying this is, especially when you consider that the Jets (1) have the highest negative point differential; and (2) lead the NFL in 2nd & long situations. If anything, we should be in the top third of the NFL at the very least.

This team does have some talent, and as they get healthy there's a chance the Jets win a few random games and play better as the 2013 Jaguars did down the stretch. But I truly don't believe that happens unless Gase does a complete 180 as a play-caller or until he is fired.

What exactly is this chart saying?

It’s how often we’re in 2nd and long? Or how often we run in 2nd and long?

It's "pass rate on second and long"

We throw less often on second and long than any team in the league - For us Gase haters, this has been a weekly point of contention.

Last week, we ran the ball on 2nd and 26 down by multiple scores in the second half. Gase is lost.

The rate we pass when in 2nd and long, not how often.

In 2nd & 8+ situations, we are calling a pass play 54% of the time. That is lowest percentage in the NFL.

Mims, Mims & Mims.
We need Mims to show us he has the ability to become a #1 WR like AJ Brown in Tennessee.
Took Brown some time but I’d be shocked if we don’t target 1 free agent WR next year.
Unless JD gets the #1 & makes a blockbuster deal trading the #1 pick.
In that case I believe he drafts another WR.

I understand what you mean about pressure but I also think he is the kind of guy that wants to get there and show what he can do.  Remember he was pissed he lasted as long as he has and now he as been watching other rookies get the attention and kudos.  I bet he is chomping at the bit to get game ready so he can show what he is capable of.
