Mark Sanchez Can Sing!

Sanchez sucked I’m sorry. They gave him a ridiculous team that’s why he was successful early on. When it was his time to lead he fell flat on his face. He would’ve bottomed out anywhere. That Jets team was his best landing spot possible with that supporting cast and he still failed

Anyone who expected more of Mark in that game wasn't paying attention. He did beyond what his career dictated. The defense failed against their expectation against the 13th rated offense. The defense got us to that game no doubt but threw up a turd at the worst possible time and lost that game. It's like blaming the Chiefs defense if Mahomes performed far below expectation in the SB last year.

That's not really true. Here are the resources spent:

In 2009

1. on defense they added Bart Scott -- OK he was expensive. Who else? Jim Leonhard, Lito Sheppard, and Marques Douglas? Leonhard and Douglas were swaps to replace the 2 starters they traded for Sanchez.
2. On offense they added Braylon Edwards and re-signed Brandon Moore, Tony Richardson. There wasn't much to sign in FA then since Jones, Faneca & Woody were on big money deals; Cotchery was also already making starter money; and Brick, Mangold, Keller were still on rookie contracts.
3. 100% of their draft picks went to the offense: 2 picks and 2 defensive starters for Sanchez; 3 picks for Greene, and a pick for Slauson.

• where was the resources neglect on offense here, and how were resources that should have gone to the offense instead diverted 90% to the defense?

In 2010

1. On defense they added Antonio Cromartie and Brodney Poole; extended Revis in September to end his holdout.
2. On offense they added LaDanian Tomlinson and Santonio Holmes; plus re-signed Richardson & tagged Edwards; plus cut Faneca because no one wanted him & Slauson was better (correct way to do an OL starter pipeline).
3. 75% of the 2010 drafted players were on offense. The only defender was a corner, taken while Revis was holding out for $16MM/year. 

• Again, I can hardly see where resources that needed to go to the offense instead were diverted to the defense. 

Also IIRC the Jets couldn't add more than they surrendered in adding UFAs; like a crowded bar, one comes in only if one goes out first. 

In 2009-2010, far more was poured into attempting to upgrade the offense than for the defense. They certainly drafted some bad players in trying to improve the offense - Sanchez among them - but it wasn't like all they did was sink cash and draft picks into the D.

yet there are Jets fans who ignore the truth about Sanchez. Not only the above, but it is hard to be a succesful QB in the NFL when you can only scan under 50% of the field at the snap.  He was indeed as dumb as a rock.

I think he just wasn't a good QB.  He certainly did play his best football for us in the playoffs though.
