The next step is that everyone in the building checks out, completing the 0-16/Trevor Lawrence dream.

Sam knows it's over here.

Trevor won't make it to the Jets, either by bad Draft position luck or because he'll pull an Eli.  Do you think Eli regrets the pain of the situation or awkwardness on Draft day getting himself off the Charger and to the Giants?  Is Eli a two-time SB winner and likely HOF player if he had been in Southern California the past 15 years?

Every single person getting traded, released or mentally checking out.....who on earth would come to the Jets?

Sam looks completely defeated. I know he’s trying to be professional and a good sport, but its turning him into a weak-minded Sanchez.

At this point, I’d like to see him man up and call out the coach and organization for a dumpster fire.

Show some anger man. This defeatist attitude is not helping.

You're probably right.

The other thing to note is that there are other big QB prospects available in this draft. Everyone is obsessed with Lawrence, but that doesn't mean Fields or Lance won't be worth seriously considering.

I don't agree with the conventional wisdom on this board that it is Darnold or Lawrence next year. If we are picking #2 overall and JD thinks Fields or Lance is a stud, he should not hesitate.

We're taking a QB with our first pick, no doubt in my mind at this point. I think Darnold knows that too.

If we have the 2nd pick or Lawrence refuses to play here it's gonna be Fields.

If that happens, it will be a huge mistake.

Don't blame him.  I just hate it he is my favorite current Jet on the roster. He will be a probowler in Pittsburgh next year.

Very little risk of that happening and even if it does, it’s not worth the price Jets will have to pay to see if the ticket comes in

Can you elaborate on this?

I'm interested to understand why folks feel this way. Is it that you don't buy into Fields or Lance? Is it that you think Darnold will definitely be better than either of those guys? Lawrence or bust?

Can't speak for the ND kid but Fields to me is Dwayne Haskins 2.0.

I'm on record as saying that I think Darnold will have a good career elsewhere. I think what we have surrounded him with over the last three years has, by and large, been a complete joke. (Bottom 2-3 offensive line in each of his first two seasons, bottom 2-3 WR group, and a very poor set of head coaches)

However, if we finish with a top 3 pick, we have to seriously consider starting over with a new QB on a 5 year deal. Makes too much economic/practical sense, and as much as I like Sam's physical talent, he hasn't shown an ability to put it all together yet.  The bottom line is that we don't know that he is a long term solution.

If Sam really wants to be the Jets QB longterm, he has to get back on the field this year and win enough games so that we can't easily replace him in the draft.

Fair.

Well, if we get a top 3 pick,  I want JD to scout the QBs available, compare them to Sam, and make the choice he thinks is best.

I'm not necessarily saying to draft Fields or Lance, I'm only saying that I want JD to consider it.

I was like, there is no way that was just coincidence when I saw that.  lol  Those were tell tale signs of lying.

So he stays in school, which he said he wouldnt but let say he does; Then next year because lets be real here, the Jets are the worst team in the league again.  Then what?  Because to my knowledge, Trevor Lawrence isnt a part of Football royalty that can force hands the way the Manning's can.

I personally think being "the biggest prospect since Peyton" gives Trevor enough leverage to tell the Jets to f*ck off, but whether he actually does that or not is another issue entirely.

#1 picks usually go to bad teams. If Trevor Lawrence doesn't realize this he better stay in school and pursue a career in whatever he is getting a degree in.

I agree, but the Jets fan in me fears that he could spurn us.

I'll believe that he can be a Jet when he is actually a Jet.

I don’t understand the Trevor won’t play for Jets narrative. If the Giants pick 2nd, will he go play for that sh*t show of an organization? Jax?

Burrow went to CINN last year without making noise. How’s their ownership, team brass?

I’ll give this idea some thought when I actually hear something concrete from Camp Lawrence.  Why would I assume otherwise? BC I’m a disgruntled and pained Jets fan?

A lot can change between now and April 2021.

I personally think a lot of the "toxicity" that surrounds the Jets right now is clearly centered on Adam Gase and if we operate under the assumption he's promptly fired after the season the situation can change quickly.

With the promise of the first pick I think we could attract a promising coach and I think with a plethora of picks and a fresh coach suddenly becoming the QB of a NYC team doesn't look so bad.

If the Jets are there he’s coming to NY.  There is simply no evidence whatsoever, nothing about the kid, nothing said by anyone to make you think he wouldn’t come out or go to the Jets.

Two people have done this in the history of the NFL.
