When the great QB hope Darnold and the great WR hope Mims both lay eggs, who will Jets fans blame?

A modern twist on the old "unstoppable force meets immovable object" paradox

Good time to recap my film eval on Mims?

Very good athlete.

Best trait:  Hand fighting when the ball is in the air, possesses the subtle push off that a WR often gets away with.

Worst trait: Lackadaisacal effort when he knows he isn't getting the ball.  Obvious enough to tip the defense.  Can be efficient as a run blocker when he wants to.  When he wants too...

Gut feeling?  Something is off.  Like he is a headcase...

Thanks for posting, I almost forgot why I loved him so much.  He makes level 10 catches look easy.  Crazy good hands, incredible adjustments on bad balls.

Here's the problem.  It's the Jets that are the immovable object.

Honestly, the most disappointing part of this season for me has been not being able to see him play yet.   Still have high hopes for him, even in this sea of incredible dysfunction.

What why lol

I didn't like his effort when it was clear he wasn't getting the ball.   He slipped further than his athletic profile should have allowed.

Llittle things about his film bothered me, like body language.

While Mims slipping could mean many teams made a mistake like DK Metcalf?  It could also mean his interviews and background checks were suspect.

When he called Philly a dirty, trash city prior to the draft... it seemed to support my suspicions.

I honestly don't know. Hence, the term "gut" feeling....

Yea, I'm not holding my breath that he ever plays a down for the Jets.

It will be good news, yet he still has to stay healthy.   One thing we are consistent at is picking 2nd round receivers who can't stay healthy.

The draft pick I was most excited about (yes, Becton was second). I hope they don't rush the kid back if he's not healthy. If he does get on the field healthy, I hope he flashes enough to squash the bust calls and give us hope that he can be at least a solid #2 WR (with potential #1 WR upside) next year.

If the Jets OL can keep Darnold upright and prevent his happy feet from appearing, I think the Darnold / Mims connection will be fun to watch, and quite frankly, the only thing left to look forward to during this miserable season.

Well the bar for rookie WRs this year has been set at 4 TDs in one game.

Just give him the damned ball.

His next practice against an NFL cornerback will be his FIRST

we need to set the bar realistically for him

Stephen Hill had zero college production and moved like a newborn dear on ice. This kids body control is incredible.

i hope the rest of this season will be a fair test for him and he succeeds.  but let's be clear that he was a lat 2nd round pick so maybe he's not ready to be put in canton.  we should be encouraged that a 5th rounder like tyreek hill is doing so well so maybe the jets have finally broken the 2nd round jinx.

Probably the people who selected them if they both suck.

He makes some really really good contested catches.

And thank the football gods for that because the kid creates no separation.

Seems like he's never open vs NCAA corners.
