Here’s my two cents, if you’re the #1 overall pick & an extremely rare cant miss QB prospect.. you’re going to the worst team in the NFL.

What will RW have to say when the jets pick first again next year?

Is Roddy White going to pay him 25 million to make up for that year?

man oh man. This is probably one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen this team go through.

Individually, each of these opinions don't mean much on their own. But, collectively, you have to worry about them resulting in a "Lawrence should dodge the Jets" meme that gets more and and more widespread.

slight difference between your average worst team in the league - and the Jets who will be setting new rancid records. We just ruined Sam Darnold... not gonna lie, if i was TL's dad, i'd say fck no - he's not going to the Jets.

This would be the best thing to happen.

- We can trade the pick for a bounty as we should.

- We stick with Darnold with more talent and a better coach as we should.

- All the Jet fans that LUV Lawrence right now can now hate his guts

- We can all laugh as he fails on a different bad team

It is a win win win....win

While I don't think it could be "the best thing" it would have a silver lining. This would be the kind of public humiliation that can make even billionaires do some soul searching and finally admit they suck at this.

Doesn't matter. Leaving school isnt the issue. Elway and Eli left. He can hold out and force the Jets hand. It's happened before.

He CAN hold out a year, and re-enter the draft. Would be a very stupid thing to do.

Football players play football.

Elway had leverage. Bo Jackson had leverage. Trvor does not.

Trevor does have some leverage. A desperate team in a desperate situation is likely to blink and trade him away for a bounty of pick.

Roddy White, the former five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver with the Falcons, has an in at Clemson. Tigers' offensive coordinator Tony Elliott is White's cousin. So what advice would White pass on to Elliott to pass on to Trevor Lawrence if the Jets have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft?

Stay in school.

White, who recently partnered with Topgolf to promote their new Angry Birds game, spoke with The Big Lead on a variety of topics, including whether the Falcons should tank for Trevor Lawrence. After saying he thought it was a pointless endeavor because Atlanta already has one win and the Jets will go 0-16 in his eyes, White then said he would tell Lawrence to avoid the Jets at all costs. Here's the full answer.

Have to say, you can't argue with White's reasoning. The Jets have failed to develop the careers of many highly-drafted quarterbacks, most notably and recently Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith and Christian Hackenberg. Sam Darnold, the No. 3 pick in the 2018 draft, has regressed in the last two seasons with the Jets, though that has a lot to do with Adam Gase's failures as a coach. He could still turn out to be a great NFL QB, though it seems it won't be with the Jets.

Lawrence has been hailed as the next can't-miss quarterback, à la Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, since high school. A prototypical pocket passer with the size (6-6, 220 pounds), passing accuracy, mobility and mind every team covets, he's the top Heisman contender this year and already led Clemson to a national championship as a true freshman. He is the consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft and has already said this is his last season in college, which makes sense because he will almost assuredly be the No. 1 pick in the 2021 draft.

Unless he comes back to college, which White would advocate if the Jets have the No. 1 pick. That certainly seems likely given how inept their offense has been this year (32nd in the NFL in virtually every important offensive category) and how little star power the Jets have on either side of the ball. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement for Lawrence to want to join the Jets, but with a new coach and new players being brought in, things could change a lot moving forward.

But, he will not control what team he is traded to. And again, the Jets hold the leverage.

If he wants to control his landing spot, it is true he'd have to be willing to hold out. That much is true. But what if... he'd rather go anywhere else?

Struggling? The one I see struggling is you accepting the fact that he will be taken #1 by the NY Jets.

Donate the Sam Darnold jersey to Goodwill un dye your red hair and move on.

I am speechless.   Lawrence has the leverage to NOT play for the Jets even if they draft him #1.

Not a difficult concept to grasp.  Everyone else seems to recognize it... except you.

He does, and it would be foolish. And, he may wind up back with the Jets selecting him the following year.

You need only read this board to know that even the most earnest fans of this franchise hold the sincere belief that the Jets are the worst run team in the NFL (perhaps in all of sports). Yet, some posters think it is folly to believe that Lawrence will do whatever is in his power to avoid the Jets?

First of all, his family and friends want him to succeed. What have the Jets done to make anyone think Lawrence's family and friends would believe he can have success with the Jets?

His agents could give two sh*ts about his rookie contract. What they care about is his second contract. And playing for the Jets has proven to be inconsistent with long term success and scoring your second contract.

His agents care very much about his rookie contract. But, it is basically slotted. There are is only so much wiggle there. ZERO players are guaranteed a second contract. There are no givens in this sport.

The best QB has also been drafted #1 by the worst team in the league and gone to the team. That has also happened.

Here are the details of an Atlanta Falcons legend's arrest in Gwinnett County

According to the incident report, Roddy White had initially been cited for driving on a suspend/revoked license and committing an HOV violation.

Ding ding... we have a winner!

Lawrence wants to go to the organization that will earn him the Mahomes deal... half a billion plus endorsements.

The Jets can offer the market for it, but nothing else is geared towards his success.

What kind of reasoning is this, "you better come out and join us now cause we are going to SUCK again next year too!" :)
