So you’re telling me that Adam Gase got rid of Mike Maccagnan AND Joe Benigno? Remind me, why do we hate him again?

Carton is unlistenable.

$835k?! Jersey property values are ridiculous. $835k would get you a 2 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn

I think it's missing a "1" in front of the 8.

It was listed originally for $2.4M.  So a 25% reduction for a quick sale makes sense.

Probably sold it at a cut rate to someone who promised to pay him in unmarked bills so he could avoid a midnight roadside funeral.

Good luck to  Carton doing live reads for gambling sites. Like putting a junkie in a pharmacy, or an alcoholic behind a bar.

Objectively this looks like a very sick person being indulged rather than dealing with his problem. Really wish him no ill, but doubt this ends well.

Was about to write a similar sentiment.  Max, please add a countdown clock to the main page banner for the amount of time before Carton has the inevitable stumble and winds up suspended, arrested and/or in rehab.

I read that, it's wrong.  Someone made a typo.

Go find some quality podcasts and you'll wonder how you ever listened to WFAN, plus you ditch the 6-8 minute commercial breaks.

I'm willing to bet one of Benigo's grandchildren sets him up with an iPhone so he can do a Jets/Mets youtube show.

Because Adam Gase is a @#$%, and Peyton is a #$%^ for recommending him.  Chrissy Johnson is a #$%^ for hiring him.

To hell with the whole series of unfortunate events.

Possible short sale, facing foreclosure. Might have also taken the property subject to a delinquent mortgage. Again, points out Carton is still a financial mess no matter how you look at it.

I watched "Wildcard" last night.

It was a clear attempt at trying to rehabilitate Carton's name.

I found it as hollow as it was self-aggrandizing. Pure PR.

And yet my takeaway was that he's learned nothing.

He said he "owned" his mistakes but the whole "documentary" was an exercise in excuse making.

Carton is a sad man. This comeback will end badly.

No, it's $835,000, per Zillow.  I'm sure the assessment is at over $2 mill.  The Zillow records for the sale are unclear.  The house is worth way more so there must have been other transactions outside the technical property transfer.  Chester is one of the wealthiest and highest property-tax areas in the state.  Not sure if the house was in default ot not on Carton's debts.  This is foreclosure pricing otherwise.

Best of luck to Joe.  A true fan who wore his heart on his sleeve.  Unlike a lot of other Jet fans who have been conditioned to accept non-playoff seasons for decades, Joe tasted a SB victory in the biggest game ever.  Just wanted more of the same and was frustrated by the level of incompetence that has dogged this franchise so long.

Good riddance to Joe. His Jets rants were entertaining at times but overall he was another underwhelming personality. WFAN's entire lineup has been unlistenable for a long time. I don't know how it's so difficult to find a handful of good radio hosts in a market as large as NYC/the tri-state area.

Yep, I'm a big podcaster now.

WFAN fell off hard.

Benigno is a WFAN legend.  Sucks that he’ll be leaving the station soon. Of course, they leave behind the crappy hosts.  Carton, Evan, Moose, Maggie, Boomer, and Gio are all pretty much unlistenable. And that’s basically everyone during the day.

That speaks volumes of WFAN then.

Not really.  WFAN obviously wants to put hosts on the air who draw ratings.  So if it "speaks volumes" about anybody, it's the listeners.

Many people have enjoyed listening to Benigno at one time or another.  In fact, I think there are plenty of people who dislike him now who liked him at one point.  Personally speaking, even though he's "lost his fastball", I've always been a fan.  Not sure I'll be listening to WFAN anymore (during weekdays at least) with that lineup.  And with Michael Kay on ESPN, there's really no sports radio anymore that doesn't make me immediately want to change the station.

People forget that the call letters of the station include "FAN".  Benigno was the ultimate representation of a fan.  He absolutely wore his heart on his sleeve but that's what fans do.

And fwiw, he said yesterday that it looks like he was wrong about Mike McCarthy.

WFAN is going into the toilet.  They’re consistently losing in the ratings to ESPN radio in NYC.  ESPN lineup appeals to a younger audience.  WFAN has focused way too much on the 55+ white male demographic for years with neverending baseball and golf talk

Their target demo is old and dying off.  Carton is a wannabe 90’s Howard Stern hack he ain’t moving the needle

I like baseball, but breaking down bullpens in September, with football going on, is just a snorefest.

Goes to show you how important Francesa was to New York Sports Radio. both stations the fan and the ESPN positively suck now. And I've been listening for 20 plus years to the point where the guys at my job I hated my guts from the a.m. crackling LOL. Realistically it is only about three guys that are tolerable and Maggie definitely ain't one of them!
